Reviews for The Lamplighter Public House in Vancouver, BC
I went when it first opened early in the late morning, before noon. After the other 2 parties left, I was the only customer... there. Sailor, my waitress, was awesome and an excellent listener and communicator. Naturally, my food was delivered promptly,as I was the only guest. I tipped the hard working waitress 100%, because the world needs more waitresses like her. For thelove of God, would management please either promote her or give her a raise. Even better, do both!!! The Lamplighter Public House is a super fun bar in Eastside downtown. Our neighbor recommended this place claiming it was the... oldest bar in Vancouver. This made it surprising when we saw how modern it appeared. We particularly loved this bar for theamount of games available. As soon as it got late enough, they swept away the tables and turned the place into a dance floor.Best of both worlds! Read more
Racist staff incident. Visited Friday night with a friend. The staff (female) who was at the door passed a racist comment at us.... She walked up to us before we entered, passed a racist comment and walked back into the bar as if it was completely normal tospeak that way. When we asked her why she just shrugged it off and acted like it wasn?t a big deal. We went into the bar tospeak to a manager but it was too crowded and noisy for us to take any action. We didn?t want to let it spoil our entire eveningso we let it go and moved onto a different bar. You should not be letting staff like that near customers. Extremely upsettingexperience. Will definitely never visit. Read more
Rosemary fries were amazing! The cauliflower was very interesting and the drinks were decent. They were pretty dead when we... arrived and still service was kinda slow, but very friendly. Then they got very busy and the inside got pretty crowded and superloud. We?d originally planned to stay for dinner too but it was just too loud and busy. Definitely a fun place to go for a drinkand maybe a meal if it were less busy. Read more
Really enjoyed having a dinner gathering here the other day. The server was very kind and attentive to our large group of party.... I ordered the fish and chips as well as a salmon dish and both were delicious. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere! Therewas live music throughout the evening, which kept us entertain. I recommend popping in for a drink and enjoying the live musicwhen your in Gastown. Thank you for the experience! Read more
After 10 pm they have a dj, but to be honest I didnt like the music. The place is clean and prices are ok. I think they need... more staff. But is a really good Option in downtown. Read more
Disclaimer: Was there on a Tuesday night for trivia, so beware of context Beautiful decor inside. Especially with the... chandeliers, makes it feel like a fancy pub. A few arcade games in the corner, spacious layout between tables, not blazinglyloud music. Food and drinks wise, there's a good selection of beer on tap. My friend tried the wine and was not impressed (it'slike complaining about the chicken at a steakhouse - point taken but not relevant). The food is actually quite good. Greatpresentation and flavor. I had the pork and shrimp dumplings. It's definitely above average for food around the area (not justpub food standard) Friendly and responsive staff, good service. Read more
