small & cozy restaurant. Expect to wait for seats. There are only 6-8 tables inside. The desserts are exceptional ! Both hot and... cold ones. The ginger and steam milk are excellent ! Made with real ingredients. They are comparable to the ones from Asia. Wealso liked their in-house tea, very fragrant. The flavors are on a rotation. Read more

Super delicious classic Cantonese/Asian desserts. If you want anything grass jelly or mango Sago, this is the place to go! Good... portions as well. They served us tea for free while we browsed the menu. I ordered M1 mango pomelo sago and added rainbow jellytoppings for an additional charge. My friend ordered M3 mango pomelo sago with mini mochi (and hers came with rainbow jelly).Mine was delicious and I'm sure my friend would say the same about hers. That space is kind of small with limited seating sokeep takeout as a back-up option. There is a charge if you use debit/credit and it seems they prefer to take cash. Also 10% offif you get takeout. If you dine in, each person at the table is required to order something so you won't be able to go for adate and share just one item as you would expect between two people. Read more

This is my second time to The First Dessert. We got the ginger hit milk, double steamed milk, taro red bean sago and Cheng fun... (steamed rice rolls). The ginger hit milk was not overly sweet but for some reason a little too watery. We waited the fullalloted time but it just didn't solidify enough. We can tell they use organic ginger in their product as we use the same organicginger at home. It tasted very gingery and spicy but the final product just wasn't creamy enough. The double steamed milk wasnot overly sweet but wasn't creamy enough again. Lacking in consistency for me The taro red bean sago was our favourite out ofthe three desserts. Very strong coconut flavour. But I felt like there wasn't enough red bean in it. Other than that, it's agood dessert. The rice roll with peanut and sweet sauce was pretty big. I liked that they give you a lot of sauce and you canask for more. Overall: cute dessert spot on Victoria Drive. They have a huge menu and the service is nice. You need to scan aQR code to line up so if you don't have internet that may be an issue. The dessert can be a hit or miss but since the menu is sobig you are bound to find something you like. Tip: they require you to order one dessert per person and they only take debit orcash Read more

This was my first experience with Cantonese food. One word to describe the experience would be mind blown, I tried 2 dishes 1.... Ginger milk- was expecting a warm ginger flavoured milk, bit what I witnessed was magic, the server came in with a beautifulbowl with ginger juice in it, poured some hot milk and took out a timer and put it for five minutes. Voila, I had a gingerflavoured milk pudding. Ultimately delicious, perfect sweetness and not at all heavy. 2. Mango mango mini mochi+ice cream- Tobe honest I was skeptical about ordering because nothing made sense out of the menu to me, but a leap of faith and this dessertturned to be the next surprise for me. Overall, this experience will always be a memorable one for me and will encourage me toexperiment more. Read more

I brought my four-year-old here for some dessert. There is a sign saying each person order minimum one dessert per table. I read... previous reviews and was concerned I would need to order a whole dessert for my child. She was reasonable and had no problemwith us sharing. I really enjoyed what we ordered and shared. I will come back again. Read more

This is the best Hong Kong style dessert I tried in greater Vancouver, egg pudding was smooth and tasty, the walnut paste was... flavourful as well. Above average Chinese standard service. Extra discount for take out too. Read more
