The portion was good and huge, a bit cheaper than where I normally go. The ocean view is another plus point!

Thai Basil is great. It's quick, consistent, tasty Thai food. They have a great selection of menu options, and offer lunch and... dinner combos. You can add on things like extra veggies and protein to bulk up your meal (and maybe even get lunch out of it forthe next day). Read more

A pretty average Thai spot, it?s nice that it?s right across from KB & it?s got that local cozy hole in the wall kind of... experience but the meal wasn?t all that noteworthy. Cheap price & reasonably decent quality, it?s not the kind of place I?d goout of my way to recommend to my friends as a ?must try?. I did love their Thai tea though. Read more

Nice stop for a light lunch! Fast service and very affordable pricing, especially their lunch specials. The food is decent, but... not that special. Good when you?re hungry after spending the day at kits beach. Read more

Thai Basil on Cornwall St is one of my absolute favourite dinner spots, dine in or take away. I love their swimming rama with... chicken (basically peanut satay sauce with broccoli), and their Thai fried rice. Their spring rolls are divine and their Thaiiced teas are a wonderful treat! They now also sell frozen dinner meals for under $7 each and I'M IN LOVE! The perfect price fora dinner when I can't be bothered cooking (which let's face it, is 90% of the time). They have red and green curry, and I forgetthe others but I think there's 4 or 5 options. Anyway, I love this place and saw the other reviews that this place has recentlygone downhill but they are inaccurate and must have gone on an off night. I've never had a bad experience here, and been dozensof times in the past few years. Read more

Rotten spots on tomato... I encountered a minor issue today with the restaurant. For the first time, I stopped by today (after... swimming) and ordered a lunch-portion pineapple fried rice with chicken. It was pretty tasty except being a little bit toogreasy and having only four chunks of chicken. However, the ???? didn't taste right, and one piece (out of probably three orfour) has rotten spots that are clearly visible. After I finished almost everything on the plate (this is why I still give 3stars), I showed the staff the rotten piece, saying that it'd better to use fresh tomatoes or cut out the rotten parts. Onestaff didn't quite understand what I was talking about and turned it to another staff or manager. Then, that was where thestory changed the tune. Once I said the exactly the same thing (trying to be constructive), the staff started saying unrelatedthings, indicating the dark spots were the burnt ends due to stir-fry. I had to cut him off and clarified the issue saying ittasted bad because it's rotten. To my surprise, he seemed quite angry and felt a bit panic saying go put your plate into thebin and I'll let the kitchen know. No more other words were given. That was exactly how my experience ended with thisrestaurant today. Read more

Ordered a Red Curry. Pumpkin was not cooked. I called them to tell them about it and thought they might suggest an amicable... solution. Instead, they argued with me and told me it was supposed to taste like that.Rock Hard pumpkin! If i wanted a refund,i've have to bring them back the food. Rock Hard pumpkin! I usually go to the Thai Basil on Broadway. Wont be going here again. Read more

Khob khun ka ????????? !! A vibrant, quaint yet traditional upbeat take-out style Thai joint is a great go-to option right... besides Kitsilano Pool and the beach with an easy and efficient ordering service. I was impressed at how cheap this joint was, especially due to its location with pretty fresh tasting and delicious in plentiful portion. Boxed up in the cutest concept oftakeout Asian food within a stereotypical cardboard carry box is the best and coolest way to tuck in with chopsticks. This placeis a local Hotspot for a reason which you can see from the sheer amount of loyal customer volume they serve. Enjoying this onthe beach for sunset is an absolute must, great vibe. The staff are also super friendly, kind and very polite. I got a Tofu PadSee Ew ????????? and additional Fried egg (cooked perfectly sunny side down) which was yummy, flavorsome, filling and you cangrab yourself some spicy sauces, condiments and extra peanuts. It was just missing a bit of zest that gave it that reallyfragrant thai style flavor which always sends you back to reminiscing of good old days backpacking beautiful Thailand. I waspretty disappointed as the fresh rice noodles weren't the super thick, drunken-style which are traditionally served with thisdish. It would be great if they could offer more compostable-based packaging if also possible, especially due to the amount ofcustomers they serve. All in all, a great experience and would recommend if within the area again for sure! Support local! Read more
