There are rolls and then there are ROLLS. Samurai's Special House Roll (half: $8.95; full: $15.95) falls into the latter... category with its gargantuan size. For real, you may not be able to eat one in one bite because it is stuffed with imitationcrab, tuna, salmon, tamago, and avocado. Given how packed these rolls are, they may fall apart as you pick them up or bite intoit, but I do think the rice to filling ratio is appropriate here to fully savour each component. As for other menu items, theydon't appeal to me as much as the Special House Roll. Granted, I've only tried the Manhattan Roll ($7.50), Alaska Roll ($6.95),SSSR Roll ($6.95), Chopped Scallop Cone ($6.25), Seafood Salad ($11.95), and Nabeyaki Udon ($15.50), which is but a fraction ofthe menu items, but I've truthfully enjoyed them at other places more. Finally, I recommend ordering takeout because Samuraiitself is quite small and there doesn't seem to be any AC. The restaurant has been very efficient with my orders, with my mostrecent ones being less than 15 minutes. Read more

Very nice late night dinner! Came here an hour before closing and I had an awesome time. It?s a very peaceful atmosphere and the... service was very good. I really enjoyed the sushi. It was a lot bigger than what I?m used to so I think it?s worth the price! Read more

I'm astounded with their "Crispy California Roll" ($6.50), which has flavoured rice and avocado inside of the rice roll. The... "Salmon and Tuna Don" ($12.95) is not too bad but I would like to have the fish more firm tho. The overall taste is good. Read more

Not fancy but quite nice and calm place on davie st. It was harmonious interior. And you can have meals fairly affordable price.... I ordered rolls, tofu and fired udon. Rolls are very big and have lot of ingredients. I think they seem to use lots ofingredients. Tofu is one of the best dishes in this place. It is based on soy sauce and very soft. Udon was nice and had lot oftiny shrimps. Staffs are friendly and nice, as well. It is very affordable and reasonable prices. Read more

Nice little sushi restaurant. Seems to be popular. I started with the agedashi tofu. Good sized portion cooked perfectly IMO... with great flavour. Up next was the teriyaki salmon roll. Delicious but huge rolls! Great value...just a little tricky to eat. Ialso had the Tuna Tataki which was very nice. Read more

Would return. Would recommend. Thick cut, generous portions of fresh fish. This is one of those last bastions of midrange Sushi... for everyone. Non assuming small restaurant. Recommend the sashimi set, the Tuna can probably be skipped. But the Salmon wassuper tasty as well as the Hamachi, which was buttery and tender. I'd normally be distrusting of such a large menu but thetempura looked pretty decent too. Doesn't take AMEX. Read more

This is when you gotta read the reviews more carefully... The portion size here is no joke. I should have ordered 1 dish to... share between 2 people this is how massive the portions are here. The overall feel for this restaurant is definitely one ofthose no frills added to the decor. Docking off a star since the fish wasn't super fresh. This restaurant has insane value forwhat you pay for. Read more
