A buddy wanted to check out Holy Chow for lunch. Our group of four shared: - Braised beef shortrib dumplings ($9.50 for 6) -... filling was dry and bland. Couldn't tell that these were handmade. Skip it. - Korean fried chicken ($16.00 for 4) - my favouritedish but pricey as you only get four pieces. The KFC was nicely battered and crispy. - Pork shoulder bowl ($18.50) - porkshoulder was well marinated and tender. Tea egg didn't have a smoky flavour but was still solid. - Shaking beef bowl ($18.50) -beef was enjoyable. Similar to Korean bulgogi but not as sweet. - Lemongrass chicken bowl ($18.50) - the lemongrass wassubtle. Decent eats but nothing stands out about Holy Chow. 3.5 stars. Read more

A fantastic dining experience in downtown Vancouver. It seems like a small business with no signs outside, found it while... scrolling through Google Maps. Service was awesome, fast and friendly. The food was delicious, fresh and savory. Drinks wereawesome as well. One of the highlights of my trip to Vancouver! Read more

Came in between lunch and dinner time and the place was mostly empty and the whole place seemed to being run by one guy. The... service was still surprisingly good and the food was incredible. The noodle dishes were spot on and had some interesting flavorcombinations I had never had before- they were out of a few things we wanted but the alternatives suggested were delicious andthe dumplings were solid. Everything was spicy and savory and hit the spot. Read more

The noodles at Holy Chow are delicious, and the dumplings are filled with flavor. The customer service was friendly, but the... service was slow. There were no waitstaff when we dined in, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, the food was tasty and theexperience was good. Read more

Found this place on the edges is Gastown. The area is a little sketchy, but the food was amazing. We arrived and we were told... that they were a little busy with a large takeout order and they were short staffed. We accepted the slower service, but waspleasantly surprised with the shorter than expected wait. We had some of the fried chicken which was crunchy on the outside andmoist and juicy on the inside. We also had the spicy beef, one with noodles and one with rice. Both were excellent. Read more

Delicious food. We walked in and even though they were short-staffed and their dining room was closed that day, they seated us... and served us. We had the spicy beef and fried chicken with two different sauces, I ordered the spicy soya sauce. Read more

A great spot for some Asian fusion bowls! For example, I had the Korean fried chicken bowl - but along with the typical soy... garlic, you get an option for sweet & spicy or a tangy fish sauce glaze. I went for tangy fish sauce and loved how unique itwas. Plus of course the chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Service was great too. Definitely a funeating experience. Not a bad place. We got the ginger lemongrass chicken noodle bowl, the braised pork belly noodle bowl, and the short rib... dumplings. The dumplings were sadly disappointing. I was expecting more flavor but it just flat out tasted like a dumpling withbeef filling. I didn't love the chicken bowl only because I don't like ginger but my boyfriend loved it. The pork belly wassurprisingly tender and flavorful, but again the leafy greens (which I believe is just chinese broccoli) just tasted steamed. Itwas especially hard to eat the larger stem pieces which tasted of nothing. Also, the noodles themselves were just that - boilednoodles. I wish there was some kind of sauce that coated the noodles to give extra flavor instead of relying just on the meats.I likely won't come back for the food but the bar looks awesome. It would be cool to come here late at night for a drink. Read more
