What a great hotpot place! Easy to find, accessible parking. Really clean place and the host is equally lovely. The robo waiter... is a scary glimpse into the future. It came, music on, waited for us to unload and then glided away kind of giddy (itseems). The broths are delicious! Very very delicious, silky and smooth and fragrant with exotic spices. And I love the wideselection of sauces to start with. All the ingredients were fresh and of the best quality. The lamb and the beef were both scrumptious. We love a good hotpot restaurant and Happy Lamp does not disappoint. A great menu selection to choose from and everything was... delicious and tasty. The lamb and beef meat even on the deluxe menu is dry and tasteless and obviously not AAA, the marbling suggests AA or choice... grade or lower commercial grade. For the price i will skip next time. There was no desert left at the end so that was a bummer.They offered a discount voucher for the next visit though. Staff was friendly. Menu was taken away after second order. Washroomswere clean. To address some the one star reviews about servers adding tips to the total, if you look at the menu you will seethat the soup base is 10$ or more so your total will be higher than the menu you choose these reviews should be deleted. The robot server is a good idea. The server routinely filled the soup broth until it got busy. Had to go up to the bar area to... tell them the soup base was about to run dry and burn the pot. The watercress was old and not young and tender as I had thought.My sons enjoyed the experience but the others went hungry. Meat was minimal and soup base was too salty. After this, I havedecided I prefer Japanese Shabusen style hotpot. Server never returned after filling the soup base. No water, no teapot refills(was thirsty after the salty soup base). Party of 5. 2/5 went hungry cause deemed it inedible. I filled up on vegetables. For$31/person, I could dine elsewhere with a happier palate. Read more
