Reviews for Delara Restaurant in Vancouver, BC
Stunningly redesigned interior of a previously tired old space. Beautiful and inventive cocktails, very good and reasonably... priced wine list. Food is outstanding - no misses amongst our selections and the standouts were definitely the lamb shank andthe mushrooms, saffron and pistachios. The rice is perfection. Bit busy with families early on, recommend a later reservationif you don't want kids around. Service was very nice but a little slow. Otherwise fantastic. Read more
What a delightful surprise! We walked into this place by chance. The words to describe our lunch experience were simply fresh. A... simply fresh restaurant design, well prepared and simply presented fresh food. A simple menu featuring a few things done well.Refreshing to find a place like this. Would like to come back to try more menu items. Read more
Finally I got to try this amazing place. My wife and I both enjoyed every bite. This place is a golden gem in Kits. Simple menu... is only made from local fresh ingredients and produce. The chef’s talent in creating traditional Persian dishes is extremelyunique. We had the Aush with fresh made in house bread. The main dishes both came with crispy saffron rice ( yum). And wefinished it with saffron ice cream. Definitely will return for more. Service was absolutely delightful and she helped us throughthe menu. we also were lucky to meet the chef himself. Pictures not doing justice. Read more
Service here is excellent. Taller Asian girl with glasses was so friendly and comfy to talk to, as well as eggsy. Felt like... friends. The decor in there is excellent with it being wide open and feeling very spacious. Can see the chef prepping all thefood with care and how meticulous they are. Very nice! Read more
Amazing tasty unique dishes. The chicken barberry rice is a must try. We also ordered Gheimeh dish which also tasted unique and... delicious. The drinks were not as good as the food. There is a different menu for each time of the day and some items areseasonal so best to check in their website. Read more
Decided on Delara for a dinner with my daughter and her friends! My first time here and it was awesome! Some of the best... Persian food I have had authentic but presented in a more western style! Vegetarian/vegan options are a bit limited butavailable. The highlight for me was the “Chicken and Barberries”…. Delicately flavoured with an amazing barberry/orangesauce. The others who had been here before told me the menu is tweaked fairly frequently … so when you do go back you get totry something different! To quote Delara - “Noosh e jaan” 'May it be sweet for your soul! Would highly recommend thisplace … and will definitely go there again. Read more
Absolutely phenomenal! In Vancouver, unfortunately, we do not have modern generation of Persian dining. With all my respect to... other Persian restaurants, they are old class styles that you eat there with your family. Younger generations (like 20-40) enjoymodern styles these days. Eating in Delara, I had a flash back to my last meal in Iran. Having Persian core with western orFrench presentation is what we organically see in Iran and here at Delara. The food quality was great. The orange cake wasfantastic. It brought happiness tears to my eyes as it absolutely tasted like what my grandpa used to bake. The staff were superfriendly. We had a short chat with the chef/owner and he was friendly, as well. The restaurant design was very nostalgic, too. We loved our visit and it would be the place I will visit with my non-Persian friends to introduce Persian cuisine.Although, I will introduce other Persian restaurants to them as other styles of Persian food. I've been to many Persian restaurants. Many. The one thing most of them have in common is their disbelief in customer service.... Many Persian restaurants that I've been to all over the world...it seems to be a pattern that as long as they seat you, theybring you what you ordered and when done take your payment....then they've done their job. It's really interesting, it's almostas if the staff just walk around like the've been up for 12 hours straight trying to feed a newborn that just won't eat orsleep, and they just want it to end. This is pretty much the theme with most Persian restaurants. With this place the patternthat I've seen so many times repeat itself was broken. I'll tell you how. Typical Persian restaurants: 1. No service 2.Depressing Persian music 3. Dated and Dusty decor 4. Bad lighting (if any) Now as for our experience at DELARA. When we firstwalked in right away the atmosphere was bright, modern, clean and shiny with a great smell....at the same time we were greetedby a warm welcome...like someone would into their home as if expecting a personal guest, and which is so characteristic of thePersian culture. I was so surprised, expecting the opposite, that I thought for a second that we were in the wrong place. Theseating area, menu and table arrangements were contemporary, beautifully decorated with a fresh and tasty food selection. A newand fresh spin on Persian food. I was excited! Our waitress was so bubbly, friendly and attentive that it made the experiencewonderful. She smiled. Yes, smiled! ....trust me that's not something you see very much in Persian restaurants. The food wasfresh, creative and innovative and one thing I noticed that I have never noticed before in any restaurant ....Persian orotherwise, was that their food tasted homemade. Have you ever eaten out and the food tasted homemade? Yeah, me neither, that wasthe first time. Next time we'll be back for dinner, can't wait! :) Read more
