While we only went for a glass of wine, which was nice and the staff was knowledgeable, during our short 45 mins in the... restaurant it began to be so steamy that the windows were all fogged, my straightened hair began to frizz, and we were sweating(including the staff). One of the machines they use for cooking gives off a Crazy high pitched sound which made the experienceworse. That being said, the tasting menu looked nice and I’d like to return to try it Read more

One of the best meals my partner and I have had in Vancouver (if not the whole PNW). Portion sizes were fantastic for a weekend... date night in this approachable and cozy restaurant. A reservation for two at the bar gives you a great look into the platingand preparation of each dish going out as well as an opportunity to talk through the small-yet-impactful wine list. There aresome seriously good varietals on the menu with some producers that are tough to come by. For saucier meals try the broccoli ifavailable, and the short rib was absolutely incredible. Desserts capped off the meal nicely and we grabbed a couple of glassesof wine afterwards to chat at the bar with the staff. We’ll be back regularly, this place is a gem. Read more

Bar Gobo has quickly become one of our favorite spots in Vancouver. We currently live in LA but whenever we visit Vancouver, we... always make it a point to hit them up! They focus on natural and biodynamic wines that pair beautifully with theirdishes. Peter is always a fantastic host. We usually opt for the pre-fixe menu and we ask him to pair wines with each dish. Hisknowledge and passion for food and wine is evident and always lends to a phenomenal experience whenever we come here. Curtis wasvery friendly and helpful as well. It is evident that Bar Gobo has an amazing team that delivers a well-rounded diningexperience that has us coming back for more. Standouts include their Heirloom Paradise Tomatoes (so good we almost ordered itagain!) Oven Roasted Ling Cod, Farm Broccoli with a Shio Koji Beurre Blanc, Short Ribs, and their Chocolate Olive Oil Cake.Shoutout to Chef Neil for killing it in the kitchen! 5 stars all around for Bar Gobo. Big things coming for them. Don’t sleepon this one, guys! Read more

Summary: Classic and innovative dishes using the best local ingredients, presented simply to emphasize their quality and... freshness. Outstanding service from Peter, who is warm and willing to share his abundant knowledge. Food: Three courseprix-fixe menu consisting of a choice between two each of appies, mains, and desserts. We were able to sample everything byordering two. Highlight was the seemingly-simple charred broccoli smothered in a shio koji beurre blanc - this dish disappearedFAST. The ling cod was also excellent, cooked just to the point of flakiness, enhancing the natural butteriness of the fish. Also added-on the burratta and anchovy toast x 2 - we had to order two as my son loves it (and so do we). The desserts, a pannacotta and a sponge cake, were both lovely and light. Drink: We had one wine pairing, which is normally three wines, and Peterwas kind enough to split it into half-pours so we could have a wine appropriately paired to each of the very different dishes.Needless to say, the pairings were flawless and even introduced us to one that we would've dismissed out of hand if we hadsample it without food. I'm still missing Upstairs years after its closure, so I consoled myself with the three cocktails Peterhad on the menu (one at a time, I'm not a savage). His Black Manhattan with the Bearface Matsutake Whisky was incredibly silkyand tasty. Service: Peter has been doing this a long time, and genuine hospitality is second nature to him. He's helpfulwithout being obtrusive; he'll engage with you exactly as much as you want him to. He's also very knowledgeable - though hefreely admits when he doesn't know something as he sees it as an opportunity to learn. Somehow, he balances his duties asserver, sommelier, and bartender seamlessly, while maintaining his cheerful and unruffled demeanour. Space: A small 'wine bar'with a few seats at the bar and a half-dozen tables inside. The lone outside table is well-suited to people-watching and lazin Read more

Cute wine bar in Chinatown with a solid wine list by the glass. Interesting small fair notes.

Pretty cool experience, I really enjoyed our time at the restaurant. With the exception of another table, we had the restaurant... to ourselves. While not a big restaurant, the place feels spacious. The menu is set, giving you two options for an appetizerand a main dish. All of the dishes tasted really good, but my only criquqie would be that the pasta dish only had fivepieces... Pretty sure that Bar Gobo is more focused on flavours, but it was all good! Service was phenomenal, and the wineselections peaked my interests. Looking forward to the next menu options! Read more

What a lovely place! Great service, intimate and cosy interior. I still dream about the thyme-infused panna cotta I had the... first time I came. The cream just tasted so fresh and luxurious. The second time, we did the tasting menu and enjoyed it. Myfavourite dish was the acorn squash. Perfect for fall! The wine is really nice here and there's a good range of options. Read more
