Reviews for Darby's Public House in Vancouver, BC
I've been coming here for the past 6 years, and have never had bad service or a bad meal. My favourite is their chicken burger,... or their butter chicken poutine. I love coming here with my laptop during the day when it's quiet and working from the bar.Very fun karaoke and trivia nights when I went years back too. The only downside is their lack of non-alcoholic options. Iunderstand it's a bar, but I've recently cut down almost all alcohol consumption, and would love if they had a bunch of reallyamazing options for mocktails on the menu (they currently have zero), and more than 1 choice for n/a beers (they had 3 on theirmenu, but were apparently out of the other 2). Don't order online if you want to receive your order. And don't bother trying to phone when you don't receive it, as they don't... answer the phone EVER and have no voice mail. Instead you'll have to call the liquor store and hope a kind employee will helpyou. Then you have to call your credit card company to dispute and cancel the charge. It's really not worth the effort toattempt to order from here. Just go somewhere where they actually have service. Moreover, when I have ordered through theliquor store (AMAZING service from them, always) and ordered food from the pub at the same time, the pub has got the order wrongEVERY SINGLE TIME. Literally. Save your time and stress by going elsewhere. EDIT: Thanks for the update. I actually have triedto call the pub to complain about the orders being wrong in the past, but you NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. It's not only an issuefrom last night. Even just allowing callers to leave a message would be helpful and perhaps calming. Thank you. Read more

Went on a Wednesday night and learned every weds is karaoke night! We sat up on the rooftop to relax bit more. Nice ambiance... with fairy lights and heaters. We ordered wings and the butter chicken poutine. All good food and no complaints :) Read more
it was ok. their appies need more colour. the pallet was entirely shades of brown.
Was really happy with the quality of the food at Darby's. Post-covid, a lot of restaurants have been disappointing, whether it's... staffing issues or cutting corners because of food costs. Here, my chicken wings were cooked properly, and the burger wasexcellent. Thank you to the kitchen staff and the rest of the Darby's employees. Will be returning for sure. Read more
EDIT: Professional handling of the situation by Darby's management through personal communication. I really get the sense that... management cares about the customer experience and is willing to address issues without becoming defensive. This alone meritsanother visit to Darby's. Looking forward to visiting again! ---- (Original review: 3 stars) My partner and I have been toDarby?s a few times for drinks and really enjoyed ourselves. However, last night we brought some out-of-town guests and wereless than impressed with the service. We arrived at Darby?s and asked to be seated on the patio. The host (lovely guy!) came upwith us and promptly cleared the previous drinks off the table so we could sit. Our server came by after 15 minutes and this wasthe start of some brutal service. She wasn?t friendly whatsoever and our entire experience felt rushed. After dropping off ourfood, she didn?t ask if we needed anything else before we got started. She didn?t check up on us during the meal to see how thefood was. There were multiple empty drinks at the table, not once did she stop by to ask if we wanted to order more. Noapologies for being inattentive when the bills came around either. We were planning to have drinks after dinner at Darby?s butafter having our glasses empty for a while we simply decided to get the bill and leave. After rude and rushed service, I wasutterly embarrassed that we recommended Darby?s to our guests ? this is now their first and only impression of a diningexperience in Vancouver. The 3 stars is for the food (pizzas and salad, which we loved!) and the lovely service we received thelast two times we visited. Based on our experience last night, I?m not sure we?ll return ? last night?s experience would?ve been2 stars. Read more
Darby's went above and beyond accommodating a big group in their downstairs for an afterparty that I attended. Not only were... they able to book us with only 1 night notice, when I and a few others who had been running behind showed up a few minutes afterthey'd been supposed to close their kitchen, they let us order food. They did show a sense of urgency for us to order rightaway, but they weren't rude about it and weren't grumpy with us for the rest of the night; quite the opposite - the staff wasvery warm and left a really good impression. Most impressive and kind of unexpected given how small they are is the huge taplist. There?s multiple options for just about every variety of beer. I got a Parkside ?Nitro Button? Irish stout and reallyliked it! It didn?t have the coffee flavour but it had the smoothness that you often get from coffee stouts which was reallynice. I had the Chickpea Curry to eat. I might?ve described this a stew rather than a real curry just because it was less spicythan I was expecting, but it was still tasty. The picture makes the sauce look a little watery but that wasn?t actually thecase, I thought the consistency was good. Prices for food and drink are typical. Most food items are between $16-$20. Most ofthe beers are $7.5 for a small glass (10 or 16 oz depending on the beer), $8.5 for the larger glass (14 or 20 oz). $7.5 for 16oz of beer in 2022 seems pretty good to me. Hoping to return to this cozy neighbourhood bar soon! Read more
