Reviews for 7th taste (Ananda Bhavan) in Vancouver, BC
So yummy. The chicken kothu roti is so juicy. The plain porotta with chettinad chicken is irresistible.
We are experienced dosa-tasters and thought we knew everywhere in town until we heard about this place! All the traditional... dishes you would expect from a South Indian restaurant, with enough vegan options for us. We got the idly & vada combo, eggplantdosa, and Chettinad mixed vegetable curry (this one was my fav!) and portion size was exactly the right amount for dinner fortwo. Food tastes fresh and high quality - noticeably less oily than other dosa places. Simple, unassuming decor in aninconspicuous location - the kind of place you might just walk by and not notice if you weren't looking for it. Read more

I would say THE BEST IDLY in VANCOUVER. If you ever want the real taste of tamilnadu IDLY you should never miss this place.... Their chutney?s sambar everything is best. I would like to highlight the IDLY they are very soft and fluffy. I have went toalmost all indian restaurants in lower mainland, all sever hard idly, those idly?s can be used as stones to throw. Where herethe idly will melt in your mouth. I also ordered tea which was normal. The restaurant not that big but have a decent seatingcapacity for 30 people. The place is clean and restrooms are also clean. The staff here is so polite and well behaved. Thisplace is run by a Madurai tamil family so you could expect the taste of Madurai people. I strongly recommend this place. Read more
Great place. Very clean and nice ambiance. I typically set my standard by ordering Rava Dosai for South Indian cuisine. It was... good with the choice of chutneys and sambar. We had Chenna Bhatura (was not on the menu but they have it), Medhu Vadai, and LambKottu Parotta. The Medhu Vadai was crispy and nice. The Chenna Bhatura was very tasty - my daughter loved it. She also had MangoLassi. The taste of the Lassi was very good. The prices are very reasonable. The place was quite busy for a weekdayafternoon. The nice thing I liked was to see a lot of repeat customers there. That tells you the place, food and the owners arevery loved. Ravi from Madurai area runs this place with his wife Shanthi. They both were very pleasant and friendly. ps: Ihave to say this.... The restroom was well kept unlike tons of Indian restaurants that have run down restrooms. The cleanlinessof the place speaks volumes about the quality of the place. Definitely go here and enjoy the cuisine. Try their Medhu Vadai andMango Lassi. Read more
We dined in last night for the first time and it was unexpectedly the only delicious South Indian chains we had so far in... Vancouver! You can find plenty of South Indian restaurants but simply this is the best you can come across with fresh foodwithout ready made ingredients. Ananda Bhavan aka 7th Taste is a hidden gem in Kingsway! So it was 3 people including myself, wehad Chicken biriyani, Prawn fried rice, Chettinard ( I hope I got the right name) chicken Dosa at first where we could rate themall 10/10 . Later on, the food was super delicious so we ordered Chicken korma with Naan but the owner was so kind to give usporotta as well. Lastly, filter coffee was a winner too! More than anything the owners Ravi uncle and his Wife is super friendlyand kind! Will always go back to them! Love this place , people in there and food! Read more

This restaurant serves authentic South Indian cuisine, they have a variety of tasty dosas and some dishes from other parts of... India as well. The restaurant has a very homely environment as it?s also run by a couple and their sons who share real love forcooking.
