After standing in the lobby for 5 minutes, I just left. No one asked to seat me at lunch time. Plenty of staff made eye-contact... with me, but went about their business. Very low Restaurant standards in the Valley, so it was no surprise. If that's the levelof service, I'm not expecting much from the food or cleanliness. So...surprise! I'm gone! Read more

It is with sadness to learn that Rice and Noodle is closing on April 29, 2021. If you get a chance, come and enjoy their... wonderful menu. Places this good are few and far between. I look forward to an announcement of their new location. Rice andNoodle, a small Thai/Asian eatery, located in a strip mall, that plates surprisingly good meals at moderate prices. Theannotated menu offers vegan, gluten-free, and conventional proteins. The chef will attempt to fulfill your dietaryrequirements. The backstory of Rice and Noodles is as interesting as the creative food they serve. According to their résumé,for four years the owners, Kwan and Sone, traveled the United States in an RV. During their 'life-changing" odyssey, theyvisited over 600 Thai restaurants. After analyzing the elements of thousands of presentations and flavors, they created auniquely, delicious menu. We visited the eatery on a warm California day. Sone, who took our order, suggests the vegan "ColdVermicelli Salad." The salad contains: a stack of warm vermicelli noodles, tofu, with cool mint leaf, pickled veggies, cucumber, green onion, cilantro, toasted peanuts, and fried shallot. It is served with a sweet and sour sauce. Two crispy springrolls are included. I enjoyed every bite. Other proteins may be substituted for the tofu. My partner ordered "ChickenKarage,” a Japanese style, panko coated, slightly sweet, crispy fried chicken, served with a spicy sauce. She said she wouldorder it again. The eatery's small patio out front and comfortable dining room are simply decorated. Everything is wheelchairaccessible. Parking is free. Local delivery is available. Was Kwan and Sone's four year odyssey well spent? If the beautifullydesigned menu and the delicious, well-plated meals, are an indication, this is the birthplace of many Rice and Noodles to come. A small store-front in a strip-mall in Encino. (Does anyone else feel dirty when they say the words “strip mall?” Serving... Vietnemese food, bowls and rice dishes with vegan options which were friend-la-ly labeled on there menu as such. (Gluten freetoo!) I had the cashew delight with tofu. I ordered it mild and it was on the spicier side…spicier than I thought it would bebut well within my tolerance and quite enjoyable. The tofu was not over-fried and there were plenty of cashews. It was servedwith white rice. (You can “upgrade” to brown rice for a dollar if you want. This was quite a generous portion for oneperson. My wife had the Veggie Pho which she thought was satisfying and the broth was “okay.” Not a standout pho but it didthe job. She added lime and basil from what I called the “pho-coutrements” plate (an extra plate with lime, basil and bambooshoots they served with the pho) which added a good amount of flavor. Rice and Noodles is a very friendly and casual place. Theveggies were will cooked (a good crunch to them) and the portions were very generous. The dishes were also beautiful (beautifulas in I might date that pho) We’d definitely give it another try, especially since they’re so friendly to vegetarians. Read more

Formerly Pho Rider. They kept the best of the old menu and added some great new dishes. My favorite are the Pad woon sen (stir... fry vegetables and glass noodles with choice of protein) and Eggplant Thai Basil. There are also some unusual curries like theAvocado Green Curry and the Net Eggrolls using rice wrappers. Read more
