I don?t normally make reviews, but I just had to! That?s how much I liked this place!\nMaybe this is because I grew up in... Seattle and was a barista myself for some years - but I had been wondering how there wasn?t a local, solid ?home away from home?coffee shop with cozy ample seating for studying or chatting in this area of UP. I wasn?t sure what to expect, I wasn?t tooimpressed with the last place.\nWell, Happy Duo Cafe has filled this missing gap in my life and in UP! And the owner isincredibly friendly, confident about his space, and humble.\nThey serve Olympia Coffee Roasters, good looking tea, and all sizesfrom 8 oz. & up are double shot - a great sign. My soy milk latte was steamed perfectly (hard to do!) and tasted great. Greatselection of Macrina pastries and I hear there will be more food offerings soon!\nI love the bird mural, and the cozy earthydecor.\nI?m so excited to finally have a local spot I can walk to with great coffee and do some studying. First place I found that makes amazing drinks when you use almond milk in your coffee! The employees are friendly and got out of... the their way to make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. I\'ve lived in University Place my whole life and seen this location transform into one shop after the next. Happy Duo is the... location that NEEDS to stay. Derek is one of the kindest business owners I\'ve met, and consistently pulls hours to help histeam thrive. He has added such an elaborate gift shop to the cafe that adds so much charm and warmth to the atmosphere. Myfavorite fact is that he named the cafe Happy Duo in honor of his two sons, who he visibly adores (they sometimes come by toplay live music). No matter how busy, Derek goes the extra mile for every customer. The baristas are friendly and kind.
