Reviews for Honda-Ya in Tustin, CA
We decided to have early dinner and tried out Honda-Ya location in Tustin. It turned out that the waitlist is averaging 40 to 50... minutes. We were patiently waiting for about 40 minutes. So, come early or have tons of games on you phone. Food were delicious. We were stuffed. Staffs were attentive considering the long lines and full occupancy inside the restaurant. Read more
The food is consistently good with a lot of menu options. The oysters were the best I ever had and the rolls were perfectly... made. We mostly ordered the ?recommended? dishes and it didn?t disappoint. Read more
One of our favorite sushi spots! This place never disappoints, be prepared to wait, especially on weekends as they get very,... very busy. We waited about 1 hour in a Saturday night. It's worth the wait! When you arrive be sure to join the waitlist on thekiosk they have outside. They are still taking temperatures and giving you hand sanitizer before you go inside. Read more
We have loved coming here for years now. Today was the second time within two months we came here to celebrate another family... birthday. I am sadly disappointed. Starting off, there were at least 5 items we asked for. All received a "No, we don't havethat today". We were literally the first group to be seated as soon as the restaurant opened. How are you out of those itemsalready? I can understand if maybe it was two hours into operating hours, but not right as you open. As dinner continued, wealso asked for some more sushi ginger as well as the red ginger. To the red ginger request, we were told "we don't have that".We just finished Okonomiyaki & there was a little bit of red ginger left on the plate. How can you tell us you do not have anyred ginger when it was right on that plate? So clearly that was not true. Please see attached photo. As for the sushi ginger, wewere never charged for it all the other times we came. If it is a new thing here, a courtesy advisement of there being a chargefor it would have been fine with us. Thinking back, I do not believe we were ever charged for any ginger at any of the otherJapanese restaurants we have dined at. Maybe our waitress was overwhelmed by the number of tables she was assigned so she justsaid no to things she was not sure of instead of checking. Or maybe there were changes made since two months ago when we werelast here. Either way, great customer service and communication is key. It can be the difference between more return visits orlosing out on loyal customers over simple, but important things that "make it or break it". True. The food was very good, butthe issues today (especially since we were celebrating my daughter's birthday), kind of left a "bad taste in my mouth". I am notsure if we will be back to this particular location. Read more
