Reviews for La Placita Cafe in Tucson, AZ
This restaurant is almost unknown. It's hidden in the back of the plaza behind trident and vero amore. It's quaint. The decor is... awful and rundown. I feel like I'm at my grandma's house (not a compliment). The service was fast!! The food was edible. Notgreat not horrible. Don't think I would return. But glad I tried it. Read more
Our group was very happy with their choices. We had separate checks and they prefer that we pay in cash to make it easier on the... server. Our server was very good and I believe everyone felt well care for. We'll be back. Read more
Wow! I stopped in for take-out on a trip and found my new favorite Tucson restaurant! The Hole Mole Oxaqueno is amazing,... perfectly cooked chicken breast in mild, chocolatey mole, not too sweet, such reasonable price I could afford guacamole whichwas so fresh and tasty! Homemade flour tortilla, order an extra because there's plenty of chicken for leftovers but it's sogood that might not be a problem. Yummy, thank you La Placita! Read more
I think a 1-star review is too high for this place. I have never seen staff so rude, nasty, and just impolite. While the server... was nice, the owner was despicable and honestly doesn't care about people and her restaurant. On top of all of this, the foodwas absolutely mediocre. In Tucson, there are so many wonderful Mexican eats, so please go anywhere but here. Even Taco Bell hasthis food beat. The food is overly expensive, small portions, taste terrible, and served with a side of attitude and disrespect. Please do not support this restaurant and please patronize any other local business in the area. Read more
Marcella was our waitress and was very friendly and kind, however the owner Maria was extremely rude, talked down snatching... credit cards and tickets. She also made the remark "There are other Mexican restaurants" I am very disappointed and would notrecommend anyone to patronize this place. The food was good, but the service was deplorable. Disclaimer: My experience is based solely on their takeout. The food here has an authentic, Sonoran style. Dishes are prepared... from scratch, and the ingredients tasted fresh. My only suggestion would be to sit down and eat at this restaurant, rather thanorder takeout. The portions seemed to be lessened, given the price of the dish. What I ordered: rice, beans, chicken enchilada, with beef tamale and beef taco. Read more
The location is nice, food was good. I had the chilli relleno, cheese enchilada and taco combination plate. It came with... beans and rice too. I'm just not a fan of American yellow cheese over everything, maybe use of some queso fresco would begood. The relleno and taco were tasty, freshly fried up! The waitress was very nice, but they seemed under staffed as servicetook longer than expected (and she was the only one working the floor). I'd recommend trying it all in all. This is one of those places I almost hesitate to rate because it's a hidden gem and I don't want everyone to find out about it.... It's a small, family style Mexican place. The food is great, it's usually quiet, and the prices are really good. One of myfavorite places to get dinner. Read more
