Honestly one of the best things about the entire town of Tucson. When I've spent months away, Barrio Bread is one of the things... I miss most and it is one of the first places I reccomend people check out if they're coming to town. I've never had bread thisgood anywhere else in my entire life. Artisan bakeries in Chicago, France, Colombia, Germany, this place still has them all beatby a mile. Prices are decent too. You could charge $25 bucks for a loaf and it would still be worth it. (I just wouldn't be ableto afford:( ) You can tell the owner really cares about the community and the craft. I can't say enough good things about thisplace. Read more

Always great! Wonderful selection of different types of bread, Don is a huge proponent of Ancient Grains and incorporates them... into several of the breads baked daily. Best bread in Arizona! Read more

How could I have lived in Tucson for 5 months without knowing about this gem! Don Guerra has mastered the art of bread making... where lines of people await his tasty craft. I got the spelt loaf. What a yummy, bread starved, dieters satisfying treat! Youdon?t necessarily have to avoid bread if you go to Barrio Bread and receive a bit of education about bread making. I feel I meta celebrity today! Thank you Don for the pizza kit! Read more

Something nostalgic and romantic about memorable bread. My French grandmother baked bread. The aroma alone was heart lifting.... Nothing satisfies like warm bread and butter. Barrio Bread evokes that same feeling. The crunch of the crust. The tenderness ofthe crumb. The delicate richness of the flavor. We have tried nearly every type James Beard Award winner, Don Guerra bakes. It'simpossible to decide a favorite. The deep complexity of the Seeded Whole Wheat and the determined sweetness of the ApricotCranberry are perfectly balanced. Pan Levain, perfect with a hardy soup. As I said, impossible to choose. Try them all. The linemoves along quickly. Any wait is worth your time. Read more

I?ve read about this place in my hometown for years, but now living in Northern California didn?t have a chance to try it until... two weeks ago while visiting relatives. I?ve wasted years. This bread is phenomenal. I bought four varieties as we left town, devoured a baguette in the parking lot, then began rationing the others as we drove home. I would drive there weekly for thisbread, and I don?t usually eat bread. It is so good, even the loaf I froze and later thawed to get home. Do not miss this Tucsontreasure. Read more

The best bread I?ve ever tasted in my life. Barrio Breads is better than any fancy bakery in Paris, Berlin, or Rome. Amazingly,... its signature loafs and rolls taste even better than my memories of childhood, on the tram riding to school, eating a hotbuttered Kaiser roll from my neighborhood bakery in Graz, Austria, a bakery over 500 years old. Barrio Breads not only makes thebest bread I have ever had, I cannot imagine any bread could ever be better. World class breads in a local location.Unbelievably good. Read more

I bought three loaves my first time there and my husband and I absolutely devoured the first one shortly after we got home. The... bread was good and soft, the crispy crust with the sesame seeds perfectly crunchy... And I love the way they run the businessopen until a time, or sold out. Perfect! Way to treat staff like they're human beings and not machines. I absolutely will begoing back again. Especially when the mesquite loaf if in stock. I really wanna try it Read more

What can you say. This place is a local institution. The bread is great because of the dedication of the owner. There was a bit... of a wait at 9:30 AM, but the line moves quickly. I got the cranberry walnut and the Heritage bread. Both were tasty, with theright texture; and of course extremely fresh. Read more
