Had the Chicken Fried Chicken. Food was hot & tasted delicious. Perfect home style crust on the fried chicken and the mashed... potatoes were home style mashed. Perfect amount of food, leaving room for pie. Although they were out of the peach cobbler theserver was so nice and offered the apple pie. Great food. Great service. Read more

I've been eating at Ajo Cafe for decades. Despite the age of the place, you are going to get a tasty, filling meal at a great... price. They offer the staples of the working class, a variety of breakfast foods (they open at 6AM) burgers, sandwiches and hotmeals like chicken fried steak or meatloaf. My bride had the meatloaf, which she says was flavorful. It was, to her a bit dry,but she did not want the gravy. Her loss. She opted to substitute fries over the mashed potatoes, which were cooked just right. My green Chile burger was excellent, juicy and tasty. Ajo Cafe has made a name for itself with homemade pies. it is always agreat way to top off a meal with a slice of cream or fruit pie. They are smooth and extraordinary. This time, I chose thecoconut cream, my bride got a pecan. She devoured hers before I could get a pictures, but mine is posted. (I took the pic athome after it suffered the indignity of being rattled in a take-out box, it looks much better on a plate.) YUMMM Now that COVIDis mellowing down, seating is better but the crowds are coming back. Ajo Cafe has always been a bit small, so plan on maybe abit of a wait. Lastly, I wanted to add a bit about our waitress, Teresa. She is such a sweetie; helpful, pleasant and possessingthe energy of a hummingbird, all the while bantering with customers, making them feel so welcome. Read more

This was my first time coming here so I'm only giving this place three stars. The reason being is because it was just the food... that I ordered I didn't really like it I ordered the French toast and it was kind of odd. It seemed like they used a baguettetype of bread like you would use for garlic bread instead of square bread sandwich bread that is usually used or like a briochebread. And also it was kind of undercooked because of slices were so thick that they didn't cook it long enough to cook the eggin the center of the bread so that's why I only gave it three stars I really wanted to give it more because this place is justthe cutest little cafe. You walk in and there's only about 10 or 15 tables and it's all out in the open it looks like somethingyou would see on a sitcom or something. The server who greeted us her name was Teresa I believe and she was just the nicestperson and the most welcoming host in any restaurant that I've been to recently. She was also our server and she was really nicewe told her it was our first time and she welcomed us very warmly. The place from what I could tell looked very clean and wellkept we sat next to like the way the server station and even the server station was very well clean and well kept in dusted andneatly organized. They have a big window where you can see through the kitchen but I didn't really get a good look to see howclean the kitchen was but if the dining room was clean and pretty sure that the kitchen was clean also. The coffee was excellentby the way. I will be coming back here to order some other stuff just to give them another chance maybe I just caught them on anoff day or maybe they ran out of the regular bread that they normally use for french toast I don't know but I will be givingthis place another shot. The server Mr Teresa she even learned our names by just looking at a credit card and referring to us byour names thereafter. Kind of like how a very good bartender would be trying to get to kno Read more
