For eleven dollars, got a protein with three sides. Jerk chicken was amazing, melt in your mouth. Plantains were so good and... sweet my only complaint is I wish there were more of them. People not familiar with this type of cuisine should know the chickenis bone-in, but that adds to the flavor. Rise was perfectly done and the cabbage was nice and firm. I'll definitely order again. Oooooohhhhhhh soooo good. I?ve not been here in quite sometime and the last time he had a buffet but that?s ok. I had jerk... chicken with rice and beans, cabbage and plantains. It was absolutely delicious and hot. My next time will be goat and oxtail.Looking forward to next time. Read more
???? Good eats. My oxtail was tender and full of flavor. Great balance of spices. My medium sized plate filled me up for lunch... and I had enough left over for dinner. The portions are generous! Food is very stale, over charged for 2 plates. Now I?m here for an edit, they charged me $50 for a medium oxtail, and medium... curry chicken, which are both $11, then I got 2 Mac and cheese which is $6 a piece. Which makes it $34. I also got 2 coco breadswhich adds $5, making my total $39. This man charged me $50, I went back and checked my bank statements, it?s now at $60. Theseare scammers. I?ll never go back. Read more
Had a taste for some oxtail and didn't want to drive to Albany, so I googled an found this place 6mins from my house. I ordered... a small oxtail dinner with rice and peas, Cabbage and plantains. I get home sit down to eat, not only did I find a piece ofplastic wrap in my food, there is not one single pea in my rice and the plantains are not cooked properly. In addition to that, the smell of the food leaves little to be desired. Lastly, the slice of lemon cake is horribly dry. Read more
I've been to First Choice on and off over the years, mainly because I don't live in Troy. Despite that, I can't recall ever... being disappointed with the food. The owner was kind and pleasant as always. The chicken was delicious and flavorful. Theplantains were nice and sweet. The cabbage was okay and the rice was bland. Because I usually love the food I will try again inthe future. I'm hoping that yesterday was just an off day for them. Read more
