So Carmen, I was invited this morning to have breakfast at your place, the people waiting for food clearly almost an hour, we... thought they already had breakfast!!, we had a table of two, we wait over an hour for food that never came because you guyspreferred to serve 2 outdoor tables who just came in, we didn't received any explanation or apologies, the lady on the frontwith a huge lack of consideration and service simply didn't care, there will be no next time at your place. We went to have a nice breakfast, but we ended waiting over an hour for them serving an outdoor table of 6 people when they just... got in. Somebody should tell us they didn't had time for us, the lady in front of customer service so bad. We left Carmen?s fairly disappointed in our food, that we waited at least 45 minutes for. We ordered blueberry pancakes,... scrambled eggs, bacon and the tortas with chorizo. The pancakes were good, everything else was disappointing at best. The eggswere rubbery, the bacon limp. The tortas were covered in a cold salsa, which made everything else unappetizing. Waited over an hour for food that never came. At no point did our server come over and apologize to explain or offer to comp... something. If she had warned us they were backed up at the beginning and said ?hey it?s gonna be 45-60 mins or more? we would?vebeen fine with skipping today and coming back another time. Really easy to fix with communication. Also overheard our serverbeing passive aggressive about the chef to the other server, so clearly they?re stressed and there are some kinks to work out.It was just a bad, unwelcoming vibe today. I was greeted at the door but that was the literal bare minimum. No one came to take our order for almost an hour. Water tasted... like it came from the water hose. We waited for our food for another long time I?m guessing 30 minutes. Pancakes tastedDISGUSTING. Smelled and tasted like dirty sink water. Told waitress and she made some lame excuse on the cook using ?applesauce?as an ingredient for pancakes. If you?re black or Spanish please avoid. Hidden Gem????????????Made a reservation on google (Google Assistant) for brunch on a Saturday at 11 for two. I will always call... the day of to double confirm because they are only opened on Saturdays and Sundays. I have been here a handful of times, alwaysdelicious. Today, we had empanadas, a side of Yuca fries and vegetable hash tostados. I also had a red sangria?service,temperature of food, display and taste was excellent. Some suggestions, try and make a reservation- place is smaller, which Ilike?a warm comfy café feel. Could be a little wait, not always?and I wouldn?t come here if you are in a rush. A rare hidden jem of Troy. Not open very often, and sometimes can be busy when it is. But this place is the real effin deal.... Food is outrageously good, never had a bad plate here. The service is spectacular, these people feel like family to everyone.Atmosphere feels like a summer walk in the park. They have some really good authentic food too, but I won't pretend to becultured lol. I would recommend whatever is on the specials menu, even if it's not usually your thing. Trust me! Read more
We like Carmen's plenty. The hours and wait are what Carmen chooses for her nice, neighborhood place, so if you like to complain... about such things and have a hard time chilling out, it's best to go elsewhere. Read more
