Reviews for Edge of the Avalon Inn in Trepassay, NL
So my family and I didn?t stay at the inn portion but we were very lucky to eat at the restaurant. I should say that when we... came in, we were so ready to eat! We had gotten a little lost and we were so happy to stumble upon this place. We really enjoyedthe warm hospitality, the friendliness and just warmth we felt amongst everyone working there. It was so comforting and lovely. The food was outstanding: the fish tacos, the seafood (screech I think) pasta and the chowder were phenomenal. We?re fromOntario (not familiar with New Foundland) and we were just blown away by how amazing the food was and the general vibe. Fromoffering us crayons for our youngest family member, to coffee and deserts. We were so happy we came here. I highly recommend youtry this place and enjoy that loving and beautiful east coast hospitality. Thank you to everyone there. You made our day ?????? Read more
Unfortunately I can't give more than 2 stars for the room. They warned us that the water was undrinkable so they gave us 2 water... bottles. Unfortunately the water from the taps was so rusty that we couldn't brush our teeth or take a shower. The room wasmodern and clean but smelled moldy. We had to keep the window open. The restaurant however served good food and the continentalbreakfast had a good variety. The staff was very nice and charming. Read more

Not far from beautiful St. Vincent?s beach! We were admiring Frannie & Gordons garden out back of theInn when we had the pleasure of meeting the owner John who provided us with the history of the Inn and about the garden and thatit?s dedicated to his Grandparents?.the original owners of the Inn! Our family stayed in the Edge of Avalon Guest House and it was absolutely amazing! There was more than enough room for our... family of 8. We enjoyed watching the stunning sunset on the deck and the views from the home were absolutely incredible. Thehome was newly renovated, modern, and comfortable, and we loved that there were amenities like a ping pong table and a homemovie theatre! Everyone at the inn was so friendly and went above and beyond to assist us. The kitchen is well stocked and thetable was big enough to fit everyone. It's a great stop on the Irish Loop and close to the Mistaken Edge hike. Great stay!! Read more
We did not stay in the hotel. The restaurant was en route between Portugal South to Cape St Mary's. The service was... great. The portions were generous. We had fish chowder for starter. In addition to the small pieces you wound normally findinside, the soup was topped by two pretty decent pieces of cod fillets. For entrees, we had pan seared cod served with salad &fish cakes also with salad. The fish was cooked perfectly, very juicy & tasteful. The fish cakes are also fantastic. Definitelyshould try this place if you happen to be in the area. Read more
The owner and staff are so very caring and helpful. We enjoyed two nights in this accommodation and enjoyed it very much. The... staff made it easy to plan adventures, and to bring guests together. Carol Ann took it upon herself to phone Skipper Bob inTrinity to ensure our seeing an iceberg - though early on in the season. We did and it was an awesome experience! Our room wasmodern and spotless. The meals were excellent. Mistaken Point was close by plus St Vincent?s Beach. We would highly recommendthe inn to anyone travelling on the Avalon. we stopped for lunch after a fairly long drive from Placentia through alternating wind and monsoon rain storms. The Edge... appeared just at the right time as there was a break in the clouds. My wife and I shared the fish cakes which were delicious. Weeach had the beef stew which was perfect considering the weather. My wife enjoyed a blueberry tart (and took one home for later)while I finished my strawberry shortcake. All in all, a very satisfying experience. All the staff, especially Colleen, weregreat! Thanks for a great visit. Read more
