Established in 1882 as a saloon. No women allowed back then! Oldest continuously operated saloon/restaurant in Michigan. So... interesting to see the historical photos, the original long oak bar, and all the information that they have plastered on thewalls about the past. Really takes you back in time. We enjoyed the experience very much. They offer typical bar food. Thebuffalo chips with cheese were delicious. They offer fried Cod and fried Perch that was very good. A fun experience! Read more

Favorite restaurant in Traverse City. ????We make sure to stop here everytime we're in town. We LOVE the smelt and perch... baskets. Smelt are these small fish and you would think they were small fries bc their length and color looks similar (at firstquick glimpse). They also have a room that can be rented for events. Actually rented it for our wedding rehearsal dinner venue.Only thing is that they are closed on Sundays, we just make sure we go there when it's open-- especially if youre visiting juston the weekend. Another plus for history buffs is that it's the oldest restaurant in Michigan. Only 140 years old. Lol. It's funlooking at the old photos -- especially the bar. The decor might make you do a double take when you first go there, withmounted game heads and creatures, but you get used to it over time. ???? Note the smelt basket is double the size of thisbasket in my photo- I just shared it with my kiddo. Read more

Wait staff was very helpful. So many excellent options to choose from. Our entire party was pleased with their meals. I haven?t... had smelt since I was a kid and it was just as I remembered my mom and grandma making. The atmosphere was unique and eclectic. Will definitely be back. Read more

We really enjoyed Sleders. We went because we wanted to see Michigan?s oldest continually operated restaurant. Many people said... the food wasn?t very good but we enjoyed what we had?fried mushrooms and baked potato skins. We also had a chocolate martini anda Michigan Bulldog. Both were very good, though the chocolate martini was not very big. Still, the atmosphere was neat and wewere glad we went. Read more

Excellent place. Beer and a Reuben sandwich. Unfortunately there was no moose kissing happening. It is rich with history. It has... been there for over 100 years, if I am not mistaken. Read more
