What I love about Izakaya is that we could order a one or two things at a time and if we like more, we?d just order another one... later on! The butter soy yakionigiri is a favorite! The skewers were good but the chicken skin could have been better (was a bitburnt). We also had the fried chicken cartilage and the mentaiko udon carbonara! Cheers to a lovely evening meal! Read more
Super place! We saw this restaurant a while ago but only this week came to try the food and it?s so cool! There are so many... different skewers with pork,beef and chicken! Calling all bbq meat lovers! Hidden gem alert! If u love bbq this place is a must try, meat is cooked to perfection! Super... tender and red meats were cooked properly (not over cooked). They have an a la carte menu and combos for they famous skewers.The carbonara pasta is a must try. I like that they do not over salt the meat and that everything was fresh to order. Zakkushi never disappoints, whether it?s Vancouver on Denman, on Main, or Toronto on Queen west or here on Carlton. This... location has a more traditional atmosphere, you can smell the charcoal smoke in the air, and it?s lovely. You don?t get thetrademark menu to mark yourself, but that?s a minor detail. We went through a lot of options, appetizers, mains (organ meats andmuscle) and cocktails. Due to the popularity of the location, the sake list has a few options missing but that happens. The verywarm welcome and good bye stands out. The chefs are skilled and everything is served to perfection. I will add this location tomy favorites & revisit often. Read more
Most authentic-feeling izakaya in downtown that I've ever visited. Great atmosphere and service. A nice variety of food and... dishes available at decent prices. Great selection of drinks as well. Recommend making a reservation well in advance onweekends, or expect long wait times. Read more
Food is perfectly grilled and the flavour is balanced. Atmosphere is great for groups of friends. Only 2 sakes are available,... very limited for a izakaya and very disappointing for us. Food quality is consistent. Will come back again, just hope theyhave more sake selection. Read more
