Yuugi is what you want in a Japanese Izakaya. Small, cute, quaint inside, good lighting. Decent menu, not too big - balanced... amount of cold and hot dishes, good drinks menu - and THAT'S IT! It's not that complicated. Everything is good here, trust.Order away. Only small thing is the karaage could be seasoned more but, honestly overall a 5 star. Great service too. Read more

The atmosphere was good and the food came out in a timely manner. Everything was tasty and their drinks were unique! The only... downside is that like many izakaya, the menu is limited so people with dietary restrictions might not be able to eat much. Read more

3.4/5 The ambiance is good. The servers were pleasant and attentive which I appreciated. As for the food… the value for... money is terrible here. The dishes are tiny and range between $10-20 each for a few bites. This would be fine if the few bits offood were exceptional, but this wasn’t really the case. The Karaage was good. I could do without the mayonnaise like saucebut the chicken was hot and crispy. The Saba Sushi was tasty. A bit fishy for my liking but this was my favourite dish. TheEbi Mayo was very underwhelming. They used tiny shrimp you’d see in frozen food bags and crafted this into a shape of acroquette. Not impressed. We like Izakaya style (to order several small dishes and to share) but we found it hard to justifytheir price point. We likely won’t return but was worth a try! Read more

Came in on a Friday evening and was lucky to get a spot. There's a solid selection of foods but the drink menu is extensive.... It's a pretty chill place and is your standard Izakaya. The service was great and the food tasted amazing. Portions were kindasmall but it's your typical Izakaya serving. Overall, a great experience Read more

Big drink and small food menus, Yuugi is a more traditional Izakaya in the sense of a fun spot to drink with friends and snack... on small plates. For drinks, they have a great selection of cocktails, shochu, sake, and beer. The cocktails we tried wereunique, delicious and reasonably priced. For food, portions are a little small for what you pay and there isn't a large varietyof dishes so it may not be the best option for a dinner or if you're very hungry. With that in mind, what they do offer is verytasty and well prepared, with standouts from what we tried being the Yuugi sushi, Karaage, and Ramen Poutine. Although Yuugi islacking a bit on the value end and it would be nice if they offered a few heartier food options, its still a great spot for adrink and a snack and worth a stop if you're in Baldwin village. This place is the BEST izakaya in town! Everything is so delicious. I always order wagyu sushi and salmon sushi every times, my... girlfriend love pork belly dish, salmon belly and saba fried rice. The wagyu sushi is a must try.!!! My gf isn’t a big fan ofJapanese food but she loved this place so much. All cocktails was great. I drank most of them however, I prefer sake cocktails Read more

Super busy izakaya with limited seating so it took us some time to get a table on a Friday night. Service was good and menu is... small but most of the items we ordered were pretty good. Drinks were aesthetically beautiful but the Ginza Blue was delicious..not so much the other. We ordered both the Yuugi sushi and the saba sushi which were both good. A few amazing featured dishes, ebimayo and chicken nanban karaage . Would definitely come back to try the other items and drinks. Read more

Visited back in September, forgot to take pictures because the food was so good! The only food photo we took was of the Yuugi... sushi, it was delicious and very smokey. The drinks were also excellent, maple ginger lemon-Hi was definitely my fave and Ihighly recommend it. Also had some interesting mystery shots...they came in these tiny beer mug glasses, it tasted like amarettoand something close to maybe spiced rum. Service was also great. Read more
