The York Jazz band was playing, so lots of good music. Our server was terrific! He was on his own and kept pace e with the... orders. He also acted as bartender and made a great B52 coffee. The food was also excellent. We had the coconut shrimp (4 largeones) and an ample serving of calamari. Kudos to the chef who also appeared to be alone in the kitchen. Good job to you both. Read more
Overall the experience was disappointing. The only thing that I felt satisfied with was probably the live music. It was our... first dining, and we wanted to try their bbq as it's just in our neighbourhood. The live music and patio are perfect, so I givethis restaurant two stars in the end. We ordered half chicken, pork ribs and three side dishes (fries, cornbread and potatosalad), and I thought their portion sizes would be good as all items are overpriced, but they were all super small, and Ididn’t feel satisfied at the end. Their chicken tasted like plain chicken with a bbq sauce on the top. The pork ribs wereeven worse, only four ribs for $22, and there was almost no meat with big bones (all the ribs are only about 1-2 bites intotal). Each side dish cost $8 each, and the potato salad was not the country style I like; it seemed to have too much vinegar,so it always felt sour. The cornbread was very dry and had no creamy or corn scented. It even tasted more like a dry cake, notcornbread. The fries part is probably the best of these sides because of its “standard.” We also ordered three beers, whichcost $10 per pint. Overall, the food price was way too high, the food was not exquisite, but the portion was small and notsatisfying. It is worth mentioning that only the band they invited was good. I started off only wanting to give two stars, but friendly customer service and a desire from the owner to make right a wrong... made me boost it to 4 stars. We are committed to come back because of the customer service. My gf and I were interested in thefood and came to the restaurant to eat. There was a show though. So the person at the door charged us $25 each. That wouldn't bea problem if we were able to see the full show, but the person working the door was with the act, not the venue and charged usfor less than 20mins of a show. It wouldn't have been so insulting if the couple that came in after us was also compelled to paytoo, but they refused and got the same show we did after intermission. Our hostess was excellent and really worked hard. Whenwe told her what happened she talked to the manager who then compensated us and apologized. As for the food it was really good.We got the Ribs and the Wings and they know how to marinate their meets. I would like to see them offer sides with the ribs likefries or salad for what they charge but quality of the ribs was excellent. So overall everything but how the door was handled(which we really can't blame the restaurant for) everything else was good. Read more
Was in the city for work and decided to stop by this place for a bite to eat. There was no one really greeting anyone and we... were just told to grab a seat anywhere so we did. It took a second to be seen but they where short staffed so that wasunderstandable, service was friendly and kind. They were open and honest about the food, likes and dislikes which is reallyappreciated. I ordered the smoked sausage and brisket. For what it looked like, being only one cook in the kitchen the foodcame out relatively quickly and hot. The food was pretty good, nothing really crazy but definitely good. The only downside I cansay is that it was pretty expensive for what you get, I’ve been to bbq places that can give you much more for a lot less. Butthe overall quality of the food was pretty good. All and all, not terrible, not great overall an ok experience. If you are inthe area and crave some bbq I’d give this place a shot. Read more
Food was good however wait staff, one of the cooks and manager/possibly owner did not wear masks for most of the night, did not... check most vaccination status' coming in the door and also there was a fight in men's bathroom some drug deal gone wrong. Ourwaitress was hugging and kissing the cheeks for regular clients and then serving with no mask. Drinks behind the bar served withno mask. They also allowed very drunk people clearly friends to stay and make all uncomfortable with their staggering around.Its too bad because the band was good and the renovations nice this place could be good however my friends and I will never goagain and I will not recommend. The food here is tasty, the oysters were very fresh and came with a delicious hot sauce, Scotch bonnet I think. The onion rings... are excellent, the batter stuck to the onions which were perfectly done and not greasy. The bbq is pretty good. I didn't findit to be exceptional and I thought it was missing a bit of the smokey taste. I found the brisket to be tasty and very tender,though next time I'll ask for less sauce. The drink selection is good and I like that there is a long list of cocktails. Theydid seem a little on the high end at $14 Overall a good experience that's great if you go in a group. Read more
