This shawarma place was one of the highest rated shawarma restaurants in downtown, so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered... the chicken shawarma wrap and the beef shawarma on rice. The beef shawarma on rice is a good value, it's less than $10 but it'senough to be a full meal for one person. The chicken shawarma had good flavours, and the toppings were fresh enough, but Ithought the chicken they used probably had been sitting out for way too long. There were crusty and tough bits that were hard tochew and indicative of something that's been cooked long time ago. I found the same issue with the beef shawarma on rice. Therice itself was good, and the potato was delicious and flavourful, but the beef was way too salty and chewy. It definitelytasted like it had been too long since it was cooked. I get that businesses are under a lot of pressure with inflation, butneither the chicken nor the beef should have been served, given the conditions they were in. They were hard to chew and just toosalty and unpleasant to eat. I'm pretty disappointed as I've been on the lookout for a good shawarma place for such a longtime. Unfortunately, this isn't one. The meat they use for their wraps and their rice dishes are just not fresh. For what it'sworth, however, the prices at this restaurant are much more affordable than other Shawarma places I've been to, which is why I'mgiving it a 3 and not a 2. The food here tastes like home. It sure feels like is made with dedication. Mastanga is so charismatic, she serves the food with... the greatest attitude and always with a smile. The food here is great. Tasty. Price is good for the quantity. Big portions. Goodingredients. Not a single complaint. I couldn?t believe that in today?s inflated world I can still get 3 boxes, all full of fresh rice/potato/pita/salads/sauces and... a LAMB SHANK for $19 (tax included)! Everything is delicious! Another highlight is that everyone working there (5 thisafternoon) was friendly and nice. The female owner talked with you like your old friend.
