Reviews for August 8 Chinatown in Toronto, ON
Really good time here! The sushi was tasty, especially the sashimi. Get the rolls and torched sushi first, as the creamy sauce... can be unsatisfying once you get full. Service was lightning quick and friendly. Read more
This place is becoming so much better than the last time I been there which was about 2 yrs ago. FOOD: sashimi pieces are... bigger and quite fresh, they updated the menu with more sushi and sashimi options. I'm really happy about the portion of everydishes now compared to before. Now they have both dim sum, sushi, Japanese dishes and some good desserts. INSIDE: cozy and veryclean, each table is set up separately in a corner so whether you go with a small group or big group you still haveprivacy. SERVICE: quick and very friendly. Read more
We came here because of the reviews. And August 8 did not disappoint! We were there for the buffet, so to speak. They gave you... an iPad and every time you wanted something you just ordered it and it would come out fresh and yummy! Best place could not askfor more the small places are always the best. The service was excellent Jason was our waiter and he was very helpful andcourteous. 10 out of 10 I will definitely come back again when I return to Toronto. Love this place! Read more
A decent~pretty nice all you can eat restaurant! The staffs are very fast and kind. They definitely have wider variety of foods,... including torched sushi and some unique dim sum. I do suspect the dim sums are store-bought and microwaved, as after fewminutes, they were getting dry and hard. The sushis are nice, but they add a lot of rice to each of them. I felt that thequality of sushi declined slowly every time I re-ordered, because they were getting colder and harder (frozen). We paid $40 perperson as we visited them on Friday. Read more
Items are hit or miss! What not to get: dimsum (most items were weird or bland), rolls (a lot of rice) I enjoyed the teppanyaki... dishes (beef ribs), sashimi, torched sushi, and the sushi tacos were a fresh option. The desserts were also meh, I enjoyed thegreen tea ice cream, and the mango pudding was ok too. Prices are ok for location and large selection. Food came out reallyquickly and they did not forget any dishes. Very clean restaurant Read more
Cash and credit only. Definitely an all you can eat sushi joint for the books. Spacious and plenty of booths separated by plexi... glass. Speedy friendly service. Sushi is excellent. Your run of the mill ayce options and more. Popcorn chicken, sushi tacos andtorched sushi to give their à la cart counterparts a run for their money. Bathrooms on the lower level. Read more
One of my favourite all you can eat places that I had in Hamilton and Brampton. It was my first time at this downtown location... and while it was smaller than usual, the food is just as good. Very sad that they were out of some popular items were out ofstock. For example, the waiter told me that the custard buns wouldn?t be back in stock until next month. Otherwise, had a greattime here. Came to this August 8 location with some friends because it's walking distance from Snakes & Lattes! It was great because I was... starving haha. I was so hungry that I didn't photograph everything ordered but the following is delicious. Price was$40.99/person as it was dinner pricing on a weekend -[SPICY SALMON ROLL] ????? As usual, spicy salmon is not spicy but I stillfind it comforting to eat this at every sushi spot -[SALMON TERIYAKI] ? They cooked this perfectly and the sauce went very wellwith it -[WHITE TUNA/SALMON TATAKI] ???? The sauce on the tataki was so refreshing! So good -[ASSORTED SASHIMI] ???? All thesashimi ordered was fresh so highly recommend you eat your right in sashimi if you like it like I do ???? Glasses of water werealways refilled promptly ???? Food came out quickly Read more
