Had to come try the chicken and dumplings after several recommendations and it is really very good. The right blend of shredded... chicken, so you get it in every bite, and good quality dumplings. Just like momma used to make! The sides were great too, andthe chocolate pecan pie was a good finish. It's a bit out if the way, so we will have to make it a trip to visit again, but itwill be worth it. Next time we are bringing a sweater though! Lol! Read more

Perfect onion rings!!! - the best I have ever had. Vegetables were good and not overly salted which is really nice. Our waiter... was Jace and he was a joy! He was attentive, polite and fast! Read more

We love this place. We visited first time in several years and I was worried it had changed like many places do! But as far as... my taste buds can recall it's still delicious as it was several years ago. I'm so happy to be back in the area and I can dine atMel's again! They have the best home made onion rings! I had the Reuben sammich and my daughter had the lunch special of Beeftips. Both were absolutely wonderful! No disappointment here! Read more

Have been enjoying Mel's for a couple of decades now, and it never disappoints! Anything on the menu is great, nothing on... there you can go wrong with. Had a stop in on a Sat evening at 5pm, and were able to get a table within a couple of minutes. Decided on their onion rings, fried mushrooms, bacon cheeseburger (regular size!... not the Mel or Mega-Mel) and the MonteChristo. The food is always hot, crispy and not greasy. The hostess and wait staff are super friendly and even tho the waitstaff are going what seems like a million miles per hour.. they still take great care of you! The only nit-pick on our mealthis time, was with the Monte Christo... they needed to melt the cheese in the sandwich before frying it! That sandwich needsto be warm inside when you bite in, not cool. Mel's Burger is a monster. Glad I didnt get fries too. I wouldnt have been able to touch them. The burger was two meals in one.... It was so good. Got a Grilled Chicken Salad and the Grilled Catfish & Shrimp for the others and it looked so good. My food wasready as soon as I got there. Absolutely no problems. Been driving by for a few years and decided today was going to be the day.Drove 40 miles to pick up food since i was visiting friends in Magnolia. Well worth the drive. Read more

We showed up on a busy Saturday lunch and were able to get a table for 4 within a few minutes. The food was all excellent. The... chicken fried steak was epic and delicious. The smaller size was still plenty big. The chicken steak fingers were delicious aswell. I tried the chicken aguacate. It had Cajun spices, avocado, pico de gallo, and cheese. So good! The cornbread was great aswell, a little sweet though. Service was good too. We would highly recommend this place! Read more

I seen Mels on the Texas bucket list show and figured I?d give it a try. As soon as I pulled up I thought I had arrived at a... different restaurant given that this isn?t the fanciest place but boy was I wrong. Everything?s bigger and better in Texas andthese burgers are nothing short of amazing. Whichever route you decide to go in Mel?s menu you won?t be disappointed. Everynative Texan must visit this place immediately! Read more
