After a grueling day of hiking and snorkeling at Shell Key Preserve, we topped off our day with some fantastic dinners at... Billy's Stone Crab. The entire decor is inviting and comfortable. We were seated with a perfect view of the wharf and inlet.It was rather tranquil. I had their outstanding Angus beef burger topped with pepper jack with a side of fries, while my wifehad their snow crab legs with pineapple cole slaw (and yes it was good). I had the flounder and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. Both were very fresh. Coleslaw was great...not the usual like other... places swimming in mayo. This was perfect..great Cajun fries. Only problem was the clam chowder that was extra thick...goodflavor. Read more
Stayed here for lunch after the clear kayak trip (do it!) And thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't like oysters, but my new friends... talked me into trying them and I didn't mind it. The Grouper sandwich was decent as well. Quite a few things on the menu I stillwant to try, I expect I'll be back. Can't beat the view from up top! Read more

We arrived here right when they opened at 11:00am on 1/19/22 so we were the only customers which was nice. I ordered an... appetizer of chicken strips and a bowl of clam chowder. There was actually a lot more in the bowl from what you see in thepicture. I didn?t think about taking a picture right when it came out. The soup was very thick and creamy with a very goodportion of clam. On a rating of 1 out of 10, I would give it an 8. The chicken strips were a little over cooked in my opinionbut was still good along with a very good BBQ sauce. My wife had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich which you can see was a huge piece ofmeat. No complaints whatsoever with that. A definite 10. Love looking at the water and lots of wildlife activity to watch. Thisis our 4th time here and will be coming here again when visiting the area. We've come to Billy's Stone Crab for New Year's Eve and ordered the lobster and prime rib dinners we were told extra large... lobsters would come in and that's what we ordered! The extra large lobsters prove to be very tiny and management reduced thebill to reflect that. We ordered medium rare prime rib and it came in very overcooked and so they replaced it with a lovelymedium rare peace. But by then the green beans and potatoes were pretty cold. Wine helps! We'd ask for a nice table with a goodview at 5:30 but we're giving the table next to the kitchen. Oh well another disappointment! Read more
I am visiting my mom in St Pete Beach which means a visit to her iconic Billy?s Stone Crab in Tierra Verde, Florida. This place... has been around forever and is a mainstay for people looking for great food at a great price. This is absolutely not the placeI remember. A quick call to my friends reinforced Billy?s is hit or miss and not the same. Gosh, I hate bad change. I orderedthe broiled cod with a double order of fries. Straight forward meal huh? The fish was broken up and the meal was cold. My momwas equally cold. On the plus side, the fish was warmer than our service. I asked for a lobster bib for my mom, since shedressed so nicely for lunch. I don?t find it acceptable on any level to bring a previously used soiled bib to my mom. What isthe matter with you? Needless to say, I passed on my meal and the server was kind enough not to charge me for my platter. Ihope the chef or owner does not apologize but would address the quality of the food and explain why it is not prepared at itsprevious standards. We sat at the bar and Jack waited on us. The service was excellent. He didn't miss a beat. One of my friends ordered margaritas... and thought they were divine. The place is known for the stone crab but pretty much anything you order is good. Jack recommendedanything with grouper. I particularly enjoyed the pineapple slaw. The views are fabulous and the marine decor makes you feellike you are on ship. It is a nice place for date night or for the family. It was a great experience, especially because ofJack.
