Terrible service, waited over an hour for steak dinners that were barely warm when they arrived! Everyone was getting their... meals around us! They simply forgot about us! We saw our steaks going to a couple that came in long after us!!! Last meal at theBistro! We were there for an anniversary dinner in the past and it was wonderful! Went early in case it was busy but didn’tmatter! Now it is not worth the money even when they comped us one dinner! The steak was barely warm, tasty but little to gowith it! Very disappointing!!! Very nice restaurant. Ordered the seasonal sangria and a pasta dish. I got the wrong pasta but I quickly received the right... dish. They even offered to remake my friends food so that hers was warm/we could eat together. Food was delicious. We had ourentrees discounted very generously and were apologized to a bunch. The error wasn’t that big of a deal but we felt veryappreciated and taken care of. Excellent customer service. Read more
Both the beef carpaccio and duck leg confit were executed very well, though the duck confit was on the salty side. Duck breast... was very tender and filet mignon was covered in a very interesting sauce that had a sweetness and a hint of spiciness. Filetmignon was ordered medium rare but it was more medium than medium rare. Service was very good, attentive and friendly. Dessertstook a while to be brought out, cholocat gateau was said to need 15 min to prepare but took more like 30 min, which explains themelted in-house made ice cream when all desserts were brought to the table. My fiancé and I ate here for a birthday dinner. The scallops (an appetizer) were incredible and the staff was lovely and... accommodating. Make sure to save some bread to dip in the scallop sauce (thanks to Katrina, our server, for the tip) ???? Ichose the cognac flamed duck and found the outer crust to be too charred for my liking. Despite this being the intended servingmethod, our waitstaff replaced the dish with another duck breast that was not charred, which I preferred. It was delicious. Myfiancé and I were a bit embarrassed but the team at Bistro One was so gracious and friendly, the experience was our best in aThunder Bay restaurant in the three years we have lived here. Read more
This is officially one of my favorite restaurants in Thunder bay. I've been a few time before but this week was my first... experience since they added the bar side. I've always preferred sitting at the bar so it made Bistro One more approachable forme personally. The bar is well designed and very elegant. Their drink selection and pricing is also amazing. The food is wellworth the price even on a weekday. I've gone twice this week. Once with my partner and the second time by myself. My partnerand I shared an app and entrée. The ahi tuna was absolutely perfect and well balanced. The second time I went I enjoyed thepork belly and short rib pasta. The pasta might have been one of the best pasta dishes I've ever ordered in restaurant. Thereal reason why I will continue to go back is the staff. The staff is unbelievable! A few mentions would be the manager on dutyat the time Kale, bartender Cali, Leah, and Tesni. They are all so incredibly wonderful. When I was dining alone Cali evenwalked me to my vehicle so I wouldn't be alone. Definitely worth going if you've never been. 10/10 Read more
My husband suggested we go here for my pre-birthday dinner and it was fabulous. Both of us are from Vancouver and we find it... quite a challenge to find a really good restaurant in Thunder Bay. Bistro One is the only restaurant in town that's close tofine dining quality like Vancouver. Excellent food with good service to match. My favourite is the seared tuna with wontoncrisp (pictured here) that melts in the mouth. Will surely be back again soon. Read more
I recently had a going away party for a close friend at Seler and I must say the food and service is absolutely fantastic!! We... had a party of 10 people, and I had called ahead to make a reservation. I spoke with Chantal and when I told her about theparty, she immediately jumped into action!! She helped plan a custom menu, took care of the organization of the party andassisted in the set up. Our server was also excellent, she was so kind and gave the exceptional service.
