We went for dinner in December. Two kids and two adults. View and staff were amazing. The food was terrible, and extremely... overpriced. We paid $110 for two kids meals, and two adults meals. Alfredo, $23, was horrible. A BBQ burger and fries, verymideocre. Should have been $10/$12 at MOST, was $20. Chicken tenders and fries for one kid, $10, red sauce pasta, $17 for theother. Everyone ordered a soda. This was the most below average place we visited. We would have been better off trying SierraSubs again for dinner, which was delicious. My husband said it was the worst food he's ever had at a restaurant. We are notopposed to spending money on a nice meal, but this experience was just sad. But the VIEW....and the staff.....fantastic. First and foremost I would love to thank Jesse, our server for being so kind and wonderful for our dinners we had there. We went... in for dinner service on Monday night in October, and my fiancé and I had just actually gotten engaged Hours beforehand. Wedidn’t tell Jesse, but he literally could not have made it a better experience. Without telling him, he made it feel like itwas a special occasion. We did end up telling him in conversation before we left, and he said we should stop by the next night.Honestly we had such a great experience for dinner that we decided to! The owner of the Gateway was there when we left thesecond night and he made a point to congratulate us and sent us a special treat to celebrate. Skipped the breakfast rush was seated and served immediately. The portions were large and tasty. It's priced fairly, less than... I thought it would be for the area. The line for the red woods starts not far after, great location for food before a long dayor after. We came here 3 nights in a row!! Fell in love with the outdoor seating, river view right away, and even got to see a bear (from... a safe distance) come down to the river. The creek view is amazing. You can enjoy the great view while eating. In addition, the food is great, I highly recommend the... fish and chips and the sequoia burger. The beef in the burger is juicy. The amazing part is that I could find Tesla chargestation next the the restaurant. The owner set it up and you could use it for free. You could call the restaurant to check ifthe charger is available or not. It is super convenient. My husband and I have been stopping at this restaurant for years after our hiking days at the Sequoias . Always felt comfortable... with great atmosphere and friendly staff. We have always loved to order our calamari appetizer but this time we found out theyhave changed it into O-rings you get less and the price went up . They had plenty of new staff but not friendly they wouldn’teven acknowledge us and we noticed they smiled and talked to the people on the other tables. We don’t mind spending moneythere but now I’ll think twice before I take my grandkids and kids there. My family has loved it there all this years . Itruly hope they hire nicer staff. I know we’ll give it another try let’s see how it goes because knowing me I will postanother review. Read more
