Reviews for Mountain State Brewing Co. in Thomas, WV
The bartender was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Unfortunately, there were fruit flies everywhere. To the point... where you had to swat them away from your face at the bar, and also having them land on/in my beer glass several times. Eventhough undesirable, it didn't stop us from staying and having several drinks. Bad idea. Within a couple of hours, 2 of the 3 ofus that went had horrible stomach cramps that lasted nearly 24 hours. FWIW, we both had ice in our drinks and the 3rd person whodidn't experience any stomach issues did not. Could be coincidence, but I noticed a lot of the local crowd was drinking cannedbeer and not beer from the tap or mixed drinks. Read more
Can't beat the cold trail ale! The bartenders are very nice and hard working. You can usually run into some good conversation... while there. Lots of laughs... the way bars used to be. Love! Read more
The original of several locations. Lots of unique memorabilia. The prices for drinks are great, limited food menu, but perfect... for drinking. Event area for concerts and outside seating. Read more
Second time in the area and it was a must stop. An excellent assortment of beers at very reasonable prices. This trip I had the... Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout, so good I bought a 6-pack on my way out! If you like beer, this is the place to stop for a brew! Read more
Coal miners daughter was a solid stout, I think it would be even better with a higher alc%. Cool environment, very nice for a... remote location. Good alternative for Thomas to compete with Stumptown in Davis. Prices are fantastic for a microbrewery, excellent pint glasses - bought two! Read more
Good food. Good music. Good servers. Great beers! They don't have a lot of good options but whatever they have tastes very... good. It's not too expensive either. Ambience is good. They have live music where local bands perform. Overall a very good placeto hangout. Read more
This may be the coolest small town brewery pub I've ever been to. Entrance to the place is nonchalant, in the back of the... brewery with a small sign. Walk in to a small, rustic dive bar with refinished saw horses as bar stools, which we got lucky andgrabbed the last saw horse at the packed bar. The bar top was made of the leftover copper roofing used for the building. Also anoutdoor area and a small music venue on the side. There was a show the Saturday night we went but couldn't stay for the show.Only 1 bartender working but he was very knowledgeable & friendly. Prices are very reasonable, which was great because I lovetheir craft beers. They had their 4 regulars beers and 2 seasonal beers on draft. Plenty of other choices on drinks too butdon't waste your time on the food. Really. If you're in the town of Thomas & enjoy craft beer this is a great place to checkout! Read more
