I had my wedding upstairs on 10/15/2022. The food was great and everyone told us how great it was. They did adjust the lighting... for us so it wasn’t so dark up there. Management and employees were very welcoming. It was a very romantic setting. A lot ofcustomers downstairs were complaining because of our wedding upstairs and how it was “too loud” in there. The DJ had to turndown the music a few times and we eventually just decided to end things a little earlier than what we originally planned on.Also, there is no elevator and there are no bathrooms upstairs. Higher scale restaurant. Food was okay, you are definitely paying for atmosphere more than a taste that stands out above any... other steaks. Meal was good just over priced for what your get. Very nice selection of top shelf bourbons and scotches. Read more
Nice place for special occasions, private areas are horse stalls, some private rooms and a larger area for bigger group of... people. Food is delicious, our steaks were cooked perfectly, nice selection on the menu. Unique dining, highly recommended. Read more
My fabulous new husband surprised me with my birthday dinner here (#50)! This was our 2nd time- it has yet to disappoint. Our... server has been working here since it opened in 1998- talk about OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! That also speaks volumes of theestablishment, as well, to be able to retain staff for that long (particularly in the restaurant industry). Our previous serverhad been there for 17 years! As you can see, the decor/atmosphere is fun and original. Great concept! The Stables is literallya converted historical stables. Each booth is named after it's horse and includes the horse's photo. The food?!? Where do Ieven begin? We are talking GOURMET! I should have asked where the chef trained. I had the Seafood Bisque, which was, hands down,better than anything I had on the East Coast during our Honeymoon in June! The texture, the creaminess, the seasoning - absoluteperfection! I also highly recommend the Creamed Spinach (who would have thought?!?) and the Black and Blue Beef Tendersappetizer (made with filet mignon and specialty Blue Cheese). Those three items made me need a few moments to myself.????????But everything was delicious - those were just my STAND OUTS! While this isn't a place we can frequent, due to distance andfinancial reasons, this will DEFINITELY be our GO TO for special occasions! ???? Read more
Great atmosphere!Relaxed, & elegant dining. Staircase seemed nerve wracking ( especially after the cash bar upstairs), (although... manageable). The staff was excellent! Considerate, knowledgeable, managed the group like it was no problem! They should consideran elevator, or adding another set of restrooms upstairs. Read more
Beautiful presententation for the food and delicious as well. One of the best crab cakes and bone in steaks I've had in a... while. The servers are super attentive. We took a chance on our anniversary dinner and they luckily were able to fit us in butit is recommended to reserve a time. I highly recommend Stables for a special occasion dinner. This is my favorite restaurant in Terre Haute! The architecture and history of this building is amazing! The service is... fantastic and the food is incredible! Seafood Bisque is the best I have had, including living in SW FL for 17 years. I will beback to Stables for sure! Read more
Absolutely amazing. Everything that I tried had it’s very own twist and subtle deviation from the original dish that made it... spectacular. Highly recommend the pork shank. It was certainly as advertised by the bar tender as “ thanksgiving meal on aplate”. The “barn stable” atmosphere was very unique and welcoming.
