We stayed 1 night at the inn. The tavern, bartender and Eileen, the manager, were very helpful and friendly. However, the... inn was disappointing. The innkeepers were not there, the heat in our room had not been turned on, there were no glasses forwater, no coffee cups, the curtain "covering " the door was too short and the kitchen had a direct view into our room, thetoiletries were ridiculously inadequate. Charming inn and tavern in an out of the way location. The 1700s inn and tavern were remodeled in 2020 to show the post and beam... construction and a beautiful cherry bartop. The service could not have been any better or friendlier. The food was alsoexcellent. The stuffed mushrooms were quite tasty, being filled with garlic, onions and local sausage. The prime rib was one ofthe best that my wife has had. My bangers and mash were quite good. The prices were quite reasonable. Most entrees are in the$20 range. We will be returning. Read more

My husband and I had a wonderful meal this past summer. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. We couldn?t wait to... return for another meal. Last night?s meal was less than desirable. The baked stuffed mushrooms were tasteless and hard. Theprimes rib was 40% fat and not tender. The only memorable part was our very nice and efficient server. I?m not sure if we willever be back. I stayed here in mid-May, 2022 and I really enjoyed it. It's certainly off the beaten path. The chance to stay in a building as... historical as this one is rare, and it did not disappoint. The room itself is small but creatively divided and arranged verywell. Dinner at the Inn was really great. If you want a "New Hampshire" experience, this will do nicely. Very clean, veryaccommodating staff, and very pretty, historic grounds. If I'm ever back in the area, they've got my business again. Read more

I suffer from the restaurant curse (something weird will happen almost every time I go to a restaurant) but the curse was lifted... at Birchwood. I liked the previous owners and I like the revised/renewed restaurant even more. The service was great and thefood was even better...try everything :) The picture is of the lemon cake...my fork was faster than my camera. Read more
