We went here because of the 5 star reviews and were totally disappointed ?. the food is served on paper plates with plastic... utensils and the quality is as good as a 2 Star Chinese restaurant. I am totally amazed with what people rate 5 stars thesedays. If this small shack deserves five stars then legit Vietnamese Restaurants we have been to in the Phoenix Metro areadeserve a Two Michelin rating. The owners are friendly hard workers but that?s no reason to grade sub par Chinese food as GREATVietnamese Cuisine. If you go here do NOT expect top notch Vietnamese food. Read more
Delicious! A small family run business. In a strip mall yet don't let that fool you. They are busy. And good. At lunchtime there... was nowhere to sit. The Vietnamese iced coffee is French pressed, strong, cold and refreshing. The noodle dish was huge withlots of meat and the fried egg roll was crisp and crunchy. I have walked past this little restaurant SEVERAL times but today.. the smell of the food just captured me! as I waited for my... son to get his haircut next door, I saw so many ppl coming and going. So after the cut, I looked at their menu online anddecided to give it try and BOY am I glad I did. I got the Shack Fried Noodles. So good! I told myself I would eat what I couldand eat the rest later and I ate it all in one sitting. Veggies, beef and noodles were cooked to perfection and loaded wflavor. Cheese Wontons- I should of just got the 5pc. So good, crispy and fresh. Shrimp Crispy Fried Eggrolls- again,delicious! Crispy, hot and fresh. Perfect veggie to shrimp ratio. Awesome place, the food was real good. Fresh, vibrant , wholesome food. The employee and owner were amazing, very welcoming and... pleasant to all to came in. Will be going back for more. The lotus root salad was fantastic. Loved the coffee as well. Thankyou all for the great dinner. Read more
I was quite skeptical when I saw that Viet shack has a perfect 5-star rating on yelp - that is *very difficult* for any... restaurants to achieve and I saw for myself why they have earned that rating. In my opinion, Viet shack is not just the bestVietnamese cuisine in Tempe/Phoenix, they are one of the best authentic Asian American cuisine in Phoenix, period. Could notbelieve how fresh and delicious their food is with their unbelievably competitive pricing! I got their spring roll appetizerand while there was a bit more lettuce than what I find at a Viet restaurant, it was still quite delicious. For my entree, Iordered their lemongrass pork vermicelli noodles and it is probably one of the best ones I have had. You could tell they do goodbusiness as the pork meat was tender and more on the fresh side of things (whereas I am so used to many places using cheapmeats), and both the noodle texture and freshness of the vegetables were spot on. Had I not limited myself to one cuisine typelimit on this trip, I would have returned to Viet shack at least once more. Their stir fried noodles and banh mis are verypopular here and I plan to try those on my future visits to Phoenix. Strongly recommend this place! Read more
