Arrived at wed during work lunch break. Took 39 mins to get my order. Not busy in there, took way to long to get my order to go.... No call ahead to order. Ordered 4 item's, 2 sushi items and 2 rolls. Rating for sushi 1 to 10, if 10 was the best, I give thesushi a 4. Not the best. Was able to eat one of the rolls, but the TNT roll, had one peice and knew something didn't tasteright. Rolls I give a 2.. though prices were not bad, the poor quality of the fish, and long wait time for the food, I don't seeme going back. Read more
We've been eating here for years. It's a family- owned Japanese restaurant with popular menu items like udon, Ramen, sushi, and... some yakitori selections such as grilled chicken livers, fishballs, and nato rice. It's a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere withquality food. It's not like going downtown to the fancy sushi places, and it is my preferred alternative. It's great if noteveryone wants sushi or not everyone wants Ramen because the menu also includes bento boxes with perennial favorites like katsuand teriyaki. Want a bunch of small plates? They have that also. The rolls include a few Americanized options like the deepfried Las Vegas roll but isn't heavy on them. There's a little something for everyone - even vegan options such as a sweetpotato roll, veggie tempura, pickle roll, and spicy edamame. It might not the the fanciest or trendiest but it's consistentlygood quality, fast friendly service, and pretty darn tasty. I highly recommend giving it a try. Read more
Dozo had originally opened off of Miller and Camelback in Scottsdale in 2006 and we have been regular customers since they... opened. Then we moved away and and noticed that they were closed couple years later. I was bummed but soon forgot about it. Oneday, I was having get together with friends and they wanted to meet at a place called Dozo in Chandler. I thought what acoincidence, same name was the sushi restaurant I used to go to. When I got there, I realized it was the same owners!! Who hadopened a new restaurant in Chandler under same name. Not only do they serve sushi, they now had ramen and izakaya items on theirmenu. The owner Robert is a great sushi chef, always makes fresh and delicious sushi. Ramen, udon, bento, everything is good.Very friendly and cozy environment. Read more
i ordered a beer, it was perfect and cold, they also have sake! i ordered shishito peppers to start and they were amazing!! for... my meal i ordered a veggie ramen with tofu, in a spicy vegetarian miso broth, with the help of some soy sauce and a little morehot sauce it was perfect! the broth came out a little bland at first but after asking for a side of hot sauce and soy sauce itended up perfect! also the noodles are amazing; perfect texture and size. over all a great experience. will be back! It's a good Japanese food restaurant for a reasonable price. I really like the tempura! Crispy and juicy. The sushi was good... too, my Japanese friend said they did the rice right. Read more
I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with siu mai (dumplings). The ramen was great but I wouldn't recommend the siu mai as wasn't... flavorful and might have been frozened. I went here for lunch but wasn't offered the izakaya menu. While as good as the ramenwas, it's not as great as a dedicated ramen only place. But DOZO offers way more than that if you want a variety. Excellent Japanese food. Fresh and very tasty. The place is small but they do offer outside patio area to sit. Fresh sushi made... before your eyes so you know its fresh. The rice I had was perfect. The green tea and chai tea was really good too. The staff isvery friendly and fast service. Read more
