Wow! I never asked for a refund at a coffee shop before but this was a special occasion. I asked if they had any gluten-free... options and the girl said yes. So I ordered one. Once she processed my payment she told me that they actually don't have it.Unbelievable. So I had to ask for a refund and then just leave. She had to ask a manager to process it. So the manager cameover and did not even acknowledge I was standing in front of her or why I was getting a refund. Some friendliness and empathywould have been nice. Overall the ambience is not very inviting. I expect coffee shops to be cozy. At least cozier than aStarbucks. This was not the case. Also, they are blasting music like it's a nightclub. Why? Good vibes and legit baristas at this local coffee shop. Lots of people on laptops and bustling with chatter. The restroom could... use an upgrade, but it's functional and relatively clean. I'd like to see more goings on...maybe an open mic or poetry reading!?Could be interesting!? They also roast beans and bake all their stuff in house. Read more
UPDATE:8/2 I have emailed them twice with no response. Obviously the concern Sébastien seems to show is only an act. I will... update again if I hear back from them.... !DO NOT VISIT IF YOU ENJOY ICED POUROVER COFFEE! I walked in, waited in line, andselected an interesting pour over to try from the menu. I ordered it and then asked if I could get it iced. You know sinceit's Arizona summer 110 outside I wasn't in the mood for a hot pourover. Apparently, even though the employees are perfectlycapable of doing an iced pourover, they are not allowed to make it that way for thier customers. I imagine Michael, themanager who it informed me it was company policy not to make iced pourover for customers, probably drinks iced pourover whenhe's working in summertime. So I guess they just enjoy not helping customers more than they enjoy serving them. I will notreturn to this or any other location if this is their corporate culture. Read more
I love Cartel. They?re a consistent third wave shop that never disappoints. They open up earlier than some of the other... independent shops and the seating is comfortable. A great place to meet up with friends or a work get together. A little tighton parking as you might imagine near campus, but it?s never too much of an issue. Definitely get a pour over or cold brew ifeither of those are up your alley! Read more
Tried their matcha tea with honey and substituted milk with oat milk. Was so good! The ambience is perfect to get some work... done. I wish their avocado toast was available. All they had were pastries. Anyway, still a great spot. A little cold, but defnot complaining in this Arizona weather. I?ll be back for sure! Fast delivery. Great customer service. Would love to see more flavor options. Their roasts are delicious. We got a pour over and... an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. I will say it stacks up with the pricing. 7.52 for an oat milk latte that is 16oz is alittle insane but is inflation at its finest nonetheless. Beautiful artwork on the walls. The vegan ginger molasses cookie, please try that! Also the vegan oatmeal craisin is surprisingly refreshing wholesome. Ate it... too fast to share images ???? I?ve been going here since days in uni and love the expanded space - still true hip, indie brewswith rich flavour. My hands down fave coffee shop in the US. Read more
