Reviews for HoBo's BBQ in Temecula, CA
My family just moved to Temecula and was craving some barbecue. HoBo's came up after a Google search so thought I'd give it a... try. I picked up some chicken, ribs, and several sides for a family of four. The chicken tasted funny. The stellar barbecuesauce wasn't good enough to save it. The kids said the ribs were cold, fatty, and greasy. Unfortunately, the ribs and chickenended up in the garbage. The sweet potato fries were burnt, totally inedible. While the mashed potatoes and gravy and bakedbeans were good, the coleslaw tasted like they hadn't rinsed off any of the cabbage, not good at all. The mashed potatoes andbeans weren't enough to feed four. What gets me is the burnt sweet potato fries. How can a restaurant in good conscience givefood out that is burnt black, totally disgusting. And there is no way anyone can tell me they didn't notice their color. Won'tbe going back. Read more
Tried most of the meats. Brisket not much flavor, under cooked, a slice should be able to pull apart by hand. Ribs, pretty bad, ... not much flavor, tough and pretty sure they had been fried at some point, very strange. Pulled pork, pretty good with some fatsmixed in. Sausage good. Chicken very good. I spent a good penny, wouldn’t have minded if it taste as good as the hype, butit didn’t. Soda, only aloud 1 refill, shouldn’t be $3.95 then. I also encountered the bbq sauce bottles laying around withno caps and old sauce on the threads like others have said, not good. Read more
The atmosphere is great. Very much like a country bar with villagers. Foods are too simple and too sweet. Beers should have some... local taste not Los Angeles or others. Read more
Staff was great but food was mediocre at best. Pulled pork was pale and flavorless and the burnt ends tasted like a cheap... sirloin that was cooked up on the flattop and topped with a little bbq sauce. But the stuffed jalapeños were delicious!Definitely wasn’t even a top 25 bbq joint for me and the wife. Read more

Accidently stumbled in here based on other people's reviews and was very much satisfied. The food was delicious service was... quick and Friendly. I need to come back and try their BBQ lasagna. I was worried it was a gimmick due to it being on TV but itwas definitely worth it. Read more
We saw this place on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives, and had to try it out. It exceeded our expectations. It's actually a bit of... an upper scale BBQ place and very clean. The atmosphere was pleasant, the decor easy on the eye. Loved seeing Johnny Cash on thewall along with Jimmie Hendrix. A couple of big tables came in before us so we waited a bit for drinks but that was ok. I got aCheesy Burger without cheese (haha), my husband got a Brisket sandwich and we shared a whole order of fries. They have a TangyChipotle BBQ that I put on my burger and it was delish! Oh did I tell you they make their own pickles? Yum! My husband couldn'tsay enough about the brisket. I tasted it, perfect smoke ring and bark and the flavor was really good. The French fries wereespecially good. They have a sort of breading, seasoned well and fried to perfection. You have to try their fry sauce too... Oh,and they had Shiner Bock my husband's favorite beer! We will be back, great job HOBO's Read more
I'm not sure where to start... First off good luck finding the place! The outdoor sign was not lit up so we drove passed it a... couple of times. We came to Comedy night cause we love Johnny's shows at his other locations. We wanted to show our support. Thefood was terrible we ordered a sampler platter for $49.99! It was disappointing. The portions were very small. The meat wasextremely dry and cold. The bbq sauce tasted like ketchup. The pulled pork tasted freezer burned then cooked. The jalapenopoppers stuffed with pork were dry the pork was burnt and they needed cream cheese! Who makes stuffed jalapeños without cheese? The street corn tasted sour like ferminted it was so weird we sent it back. The food wasn't even the worst part of theexperience. The restrooms smelled like sewerage. It was so strong it made it difficult to be in there long enough to even pee.The man introduced as the "owner" during the show was intoxicated and pointing at the staff the whole night to do this or that.He kept going around to tables trying to talk to the guests. He was annoying repeating himself over and over. It's ridiculousthat you can only order food from one server for the whole restaurant. The poor guy was running around the whole room trying toget around the cramped tables and chairs. If you want alcohol you have to walk up to the bar to order drinks. I spent almost$100 on 2 alcoholic drinks, a coke, a sampler platter, and jalapeños poppers. I will not be back. If you love Johnny's show Irecommend going to his show at The Hive you will have a better experience. Read more
