I really really wanted to like this place, especially since I love finding new and interesting speakeasies. The cocktails were... okay. I surprisingly had better at the Coinop down the street. What really just ended the evening there was when I had askedthe bartender for his recommendation on a ?Sweet, girly drink?. This was my first time here and was not familiar with themenu. You would have thought I made a purposeful and offensive comment with his reaction based on his facial expression. Hethen stated, ?People come here to actually taste the alcohol, people like myself?- didn?t even give a recommendation and walkedaway. I asked for the check then and knew the vibe had been killed. Boy, does it pain me to write this review. I had looked forward to visiting this Old Town speakeasy since we moved to Temecula... over two years ago, and fully expected to love this place. Friends got 7pm reservations on a Sunday night (and were instructedthat we had to be out by 9pm), and we entered through that ?secret door? at the Devilicious hostess station. Our friends werebummed that we couldn?t sit at the bar and watch the drinks being made but frankly, I thought the room where we were seated offthe main bar area was cozier with sofas and comfy chairs. Every seat at the crowded bar was taken and while that would be greatfor just two people, I thought our seating was much better (and quieter) for two couples to be able to enjoy cocktails andconverse. On to the drinks! Kassidy was mixing at the bar. Although our server Ryan seemed rushed, he did give some whiskeyguidance and we ordered a whiskey tasting to start. Smoked old-fashioneds were out as we were told their ?smoker was broken?. Iordered an Aviation, which should be a gorgeous pale purple from the crème de violette. Instead, mine was served barely cold,with no garnish, and green in color! It was clearly not an Aviation, which would have been fine had it been more chilled. Andplease, you?re a speakeasy ? all cocktails should be garnished! We probably would have ordered some small bites, but Ryan wasquite busy and never asked. With wait times for the whiskey tasting and our drinks, there was no time for food or another round.Last call came at 8:10 for their 9pm close. Overall, I was sadly underwhelmed by the Apparition Room. While I?d love to try itagain to see if it was just a bad night, I?d definitely opt for the fairly new ?36522 Distillery at Oak Mountain? if you wantthe speakeasy experience. It's a cute spot. Love the decor and the chill ambience, the service is usually really good, a lot of people checked on us... throughout the night. The drinks are yummy but a little pricey so overall it adds up quickly for a small party. Reservations canbe made by texting them. Read more

What a great speakeasy in Downtown Temecula! Service was fantastic and the bartenders were absolute professionals at their... craft! We both ordered a drink on the menu and then had the bartender make us something of rum and cinnamon/apple. They wereboth strong but tasty! Can?t wait to go back!
