This place is phenomenal. First of all the food is fantastic. Usually hotel restaurants are a let down, only there to allow for... a quick bite after a long day of travel or to grab a couple of drinks. Most of the time the food is sub par and is passable in apinch. Taste on the other hand is so good that me and my friends chose to go there almost every night because the food andservice was just that good. One of the most impressive things this restaurant does is blend flavors that you wouldn?t expect togo well with each other and make them taste great. The burger with bean aïoli was fantastic the sweet onions complemented itperfectly. Their French fries are also Alecto fluffy and crunchy but not to salty either. The real star on the menu is theirdifferent nachos. While the chicken nachos are pretty good coming in a big portion, the ahi tuna nachos are by far the bestthing on the menu. They way they blend flavors from the parmesan cheese to the tuna or the bed of guacamole. It is nothing shortof amazing and a must try item. Everything on the menu is fairly priced for what you get. Where some may see a double digitprice tag for nachos others will see that an entire tuna steak was sliced up and put over nachos reassuring them that theirmoney is well spent. Last but certainly not least is the service and with the amazing staff it is impossible to forget the greatexperiences me and my friends had. Gary the bartender and our waiter who makes fantastic drinks made sure to always leave uslaughing and enjoying our time there. The one and only Chef Andre made sure to say hi when he could which really added a nicepersonal touch to our time at the restaurant. Tampa Bay Restaurant Week - Taste The food was amazing! A 3 course prix fixe menu for $38. Taste is inside the Embassy Suites in... downtown Tampa. To the right of the lobby when you enter. It's very casual and unrushed at 5pm. The bar staff were friendly butforgetful. The Kitchen staff was attentive, pre-emptive and had a flair for presentation. The Buratta was ambrosial, tying allthe ingredients together in a delectable bow. The Delmonico Steak was a flavor parade, sweet, savory and complex w/ tinymaraschino type cherries providing tiny bursts of bright tangy essence. The Brulee Cheesecske was a visual attraction. Aphenomenal flavor concert combining aged bourbon, pistachio crostini and the blueberry compote to a brulee flavored cheesecake.Exquisite! Very clean bar ambiance with plenty of natural light and outdoor covered seating. Parking is directly across thestreet for $2 an hour, huge plus. This is not a restaurant environment, tables are low or high but nothing in the usual tableheight. I ended up at the bar. A good place to kill time, get your drink on and eat. We went here for drinks after seeing signs in Tampa to stop in. Walked into a very busy and energetic bar and the bartender... Jacob promptly got to us and made us some amazing drinks! They also had some fantastic food options; all of the plates lookedand smelled so delicious as they passed us?especially the desserts. The octopus special smelled especially special! We were there for a long weekend and for the Lightning hockey game. We stopped by Taste for a bite to eat, but Jacob and Gary... made us want to come back just for drinks, which we did right after the game. They were a lot of fun and excellent bartenders!Jacob saw what I preferred in drinks and got me to try the "chocolate covered strawberry" drink that he created. Over the course of two nights I had the snapper sandwich and the steak sliders both were spectacular. You can tell the chef... (Wes, I think) both cares about the food and knows what he's doing. The cocktail program was inventive and delicious. Try theone with gin and herbs - it's spectacular - thanks to Gary and Jacob for turning me on to that. Read more
During a college trip I stayed at the hotel for one night. I ended up going to Taste really late and honestly I was hungry... enough to just eat anything but what I got was so much more. For only having a few people on staff at the time I was servedpretty quickly and when the food came out it looked as good as it smelled. And after taking a bite of some crispy chickentenders as well as their sandwich I found that it was absolutely divine! After expressing my compliments to the chef I actuallygot to meet him. He was very personable and after speaking with him it makes sense why this food is so delicious. I've neverdone a review for anything before but I felt like the effort that went into the menu and service is something to be enjoyed.Thanks staff at Taste!!! Read more
