I have Celiac Disease and cannot have Gluten. I used to come here because they have a Gluten Free menu and used to care about... food allergies. The last two times I have gone there, they argue that they do not carry the Gluten Free menu anymore and when Iexplained my food allergies to the wait staff, I was dismissed and told I should probably just eat at home then. Really upset meknowing this used to be the ONLY place it was safe to eat out and dine in with my husband for date nights ( which hardly neverhappen so they mean everything to us!). Pretty sad. Great appetizers and the portions are huge so bring your appetite!

El Toro has been a favorite of my family since childhood. It's very rare that I have a complaint about the food. However, I... usually go to or order from the north tacoma location. Last night I ordered from this location and it will NEVER happenagain. We always order carne asada. It's a favorite and is always fabulous. Unfortunately that was not the case with lastnight's meal. The meat was starting to turn. I could smell it, but had hoped that my nose was playing tricks on me. I tried to eat a few bites but couldn't. If you've ever tasted meat that's going bad you know. There's a texture and tastethat no matter how much it's salted (I think they soaked it in salt) you can't hide it. Both carne asada dinners wereinedible. We also like queso dip. But, apparently this location makes theirs differently than most. It was alsoinedible. I've attached photos. Had I eaten the meal I am certain that I'd be in bad shape today. You guys really need tobe more careful and mindful of the food you serve. Just because it's take-out does not give you the right to serve garbage. Over $100 of food that we could not eat. Read more

I've been coming here since the 70s. They are one of my favorite places to go for Mexican food! Great service and great food!

This was only my second experience at this particular restaurant. Once a few years ago and the last night. I usually do not... stop because the place is so busy. Well there is a reason this place always looks busy, the waiter was outstanding and the foodspectacular (I do not say that about many places). The food was good. The salsa was wonderful. So why just 2 stars? Service. Not friendly, kinda sullen attitude. Not attentive,... kept having to ask for water and extra salsa. Got my order wrong. Server was argumentative, rather than continue to argue withher, just took the wrong entree. It was ok but not what I wanted. We will probably go back but not sure. So folks, I think thefood was good. And the air conditioning was much appreciated. (Very hot that day.) Tell the staff, smiles are free. This place lacks good vegetarian options. Also the waitress was very inflexible in our request to modify anything to be... vegetarian. I?ve been to many Mexican places but have not seen anyone being so strict about changes to menu toppings. The foodwe had was just good but not excellent. Read more
