Went to Platia for the first time today for a belated Valentine's dinner. This place is now one of my favorite restaurants. As... far as covid protocols, all the staff were wearing masks and the tables were spread out 6 feet apart. I went on a Monday nightwithout a reservation and we had no issue getting seated. For appetizers we got the Saganaki and the Zucchini and Eggplantchips. We devoured them. For the main we ordered the chicken souvlaki platter. It was HUGE. The portions were so generous. Wetook a lot of leftovers home! Everything was delicious and authentic. The ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. Greek music wasplayed and lots of beautiful artworks of Greece on the walls. Made you feel like you were in Greece. Read more

Tonight my wife and I decided to go ?local,? for Greek food. We?ve been to this restaurant before and it was ok so we decided to... go back. That was mistake # 1. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation which was a positive sign, and then we had towait 20 minutes for a server to come by, (yes they appear to be understaffed.) the server comes over and asks are you ready toorder, didn?t think about asking if we wanted a drink or if there were any specials etc. Things were not off to a rousingstart. We were able to order a bottle of wine and the same time find out what the specials were as well. When he came back withthe wine we knew that we better order our dinner as well, if not who knew when the server would return. For appetizers weordered saganaki, and KOLOKITHOKEFTEDES which are zucchini fritters served with tazatziki, and for entrees a whole Lavraki andsautéed soft shell crabs. Both mains came with Greek potatoes and sautéed spinach. They brought out the fritters and to ourdismay they were probably cooked with other orders many hours earlier and kept under heat to keep warm, bottom line very driedout. Now we were wondering if they forgot the saganaki altogether, 20 minutes later it showed up, lukewarm and the cheese hadalready hardened again. We were on a proverbial roll. Next came the Lavraki and even though the head was burnt to a crisp thefish was delicious in a lemon caper sauce. It was a 4.5 out of 5. The sautéed soft shell crabs were nothing to applaud about, they were ok as in average. We decided to share a baklava for desert which was on the dry side. Bottom line for 2 appetizers, 2entrees, desert and a bottle of Greek wine for $170.00 you?re better off going to Astoria, NY or NYC for the same price and abetter meal. Let me add that they couldn?t even change the utensils between courses. My rating of 3 is extremely kind andgenerous and probably based on our first visit when we had much better service. Read more
