This is the second place we've tried this trip. It has been the BEST! Okie Dokie s is located at 2375 US Hwy 70 in Swannanona,... N. C. at I-40 Exit 59. Don't think about trying anywhere else, this is the spot. It was recommended to us by Hoss of the nearbyHarley Davidson Dealership. As my friend says," ya wanna know where to eat, look for the bikers! " We split a full rack ofribs that came dry rubbed with black eyed peas, fries, chopped brisket with chips, coleslaw and jalapeno hush puppies with ranchdressing for dipping. Delicious! Used to be a great BBQ restaurant unfortunately not anymore. Husband and I ate there yesterday. Ordered Smokehouse plates with... beef due to food sensitivity to pork. We were both served pulled pork and spent the entire evening and now most of the day sick.We now feel we cannot trust the staff to serve us what we order so we won't be eating there again. It would not be a big deal ifthis was just a food preference but pork makes us both sick. This is a safety issue for us and anyone else with foodallergies/sensitivities. Read more
Fast food now,order and pay outside before they let you in! Even McDonald's let's you in. Get the pleasure of dining with people... who have to have "a" beer, listen to rock music, throw out your own trash,get your own condiments,refills,etc. Did I mentionbefore you get to taste your food, they're asking for a tip! This was my first time going to Okie Dokies and it didn't disappoint. I had a toddler on my hip and I was impressed that the... staff poured my self-service drink for me and collected self-service condiments, cutlery, and napkins for us. Highly recommend the Ribs and jalapeño hush puppies. Sauces were very good. Would recommend passing on the chicken breast or... drenching it in the hot sauce. Also recommend passing on regular hush puppies in favor of the Jalapeño. I found the chickenbland. Fried pickles were light and tasty! Greens were good but I enjoyed the red slaw thoroughly. Not only was the food great, we experienced some of the best customer service we've had in years. The gentleman who took our... order was very kind as he explained the menu and took our order. Then he remembered my name from my order and checked on usseveral times. Stop here for BBQ!!! I stopped because of the big sign eastbound on I-40 and I'm so glad I did!! You order at the window and... there are uncovered seating outside. The food was really good and the portion size generous. They automatically asked me whatkind of sauce I wanted and they have several options. The hush puppies were crispy and not dense. I got the combo with pulledpork, ribs, and beef chunks; they were all good but I especially enjoyed the flavorful ribs. Solid spot! Went to a VA appointment nearby and came here earlier today. Had the bigger plate and all of it was outstanding and... accurate. I will def be back. The meats were great and the sauces were bomb! Highly recommend! Read more
