We have Waffle Houses here in the North, but as someone with southern roots, gotta have something from a southern WH. This one... fits the bill. We got sausage egg and cheese biscuits, and they were delicious! At the time of our visit, there was nocustomers, but location tells me they would be quite busy. Waitress of course had that southern attitude: friendly, patientwhile we decided what we wanted. Read more

Got served burnt waffles and was expected to eat them. When we asked for new ones, the server gave us a huge attitude then... stormed off to tell the manager. By that time my husband engaged in conversation with the cook and the manager comes out andjust asks us to leave. No intention of handling the issue or even asking for our input on the problem. We didnt want to eatburnt up waffles and we were asked to leave smh very sad excuse for a staff and even worse for a manager. You are in the foodindustry and your job is customer service and food quality!! We will not be back ever and think this is ridiculous to treat yourlocal patrons with this much disrespect! Read more

To name the 7 wonders of the south one would have to factor in Waffle House. I?m not saying they are the best, they are just... iconic. A symbol of breakfast and lunch (unknown to some) done simple and reasonable. The laminated, two side menu offers alimited menu of breakfast bowls, hash browns, eggs, sides and yes, waffles. Just don?t be asking for pancakes. Lunch offers evenless with a few Angus burgers and/or Texas melts. Some locations are known to serve T-bone steaks, pork chops and country ham,but I have yet to find one. I guess my quest is yet to be completed. Most seating is wrapped around the cooking area so serverscan sling your order right to you from the grill. Otherwise, booth seating lines the walls. Even though it was lunchtime, Ifound myself ordering the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Hash brown Bowl. First a layer of hash browns fried to perfection with crispyedges, topped with 2 scrambled eggs, 2 Jimmy Dean Patties crumbled and 2 slices of melted American cheese. Quality and quantitygoes hand and hand, with even leftovers. Read more

Coffee was old, bottom of the pot, and she didn't offer to make any fresh. Okay, so they were short staffed, but that doesn't... excuse not making fresh coffee. Stopped in for a late dinner with the wife and kids. Tables were dirty and we had to fit 6 of usinto a 4-person booth. Cook had some kind of attitude going, slinging or slamming dishes about as if she had somewhere elseshe'd rather be. Waitress, the only one, was working hard to keep things going. With the exception of the coffee issue, I wouldgive her a lot more credit. Cooks attitude reflected in the food. Over medium eggs my daughter ordered were broken and friedhard. Toast was burnt. Hamburger bun for my youngest son was broken and falling apart. But, it's Waffle House and they wereshort-staffed... likely wouldn't have been an issue with proper staffing. Waitress did fill my coffee for me, but neglected mywife's cup. And my refill was less than half a cup, of really old coffee. Since we don't live here it's not likely we would goback at any time. If you're visiting Surfside Beach and want to take the chance... well, it's your call. When we return nextyear we'll look elsewhere for our late evening meal. Read more

I have given this Waffle House plenty of chances! After moving here in April I was initially excited about a Waffle House being... so close. I usually eat between 0630 and 0700. This morning I entered at 0645 and sat down. When I entered the restaurant awaitress as she is going to the back said welcome to Waffle House, so I was greeted. I am sitting right outside the office andall of the staff are in the back talking except for a dishwasher and a lazy old waitress that needs to retire.. She never speaksto me and stays on the other side of the restaurant. If she smiled her face would crack. I noticed she is the same with most ofthe customers. She has short gray hair and wears a cap. I'm not being rude it just is the truth. I sat there for 7 minutes and noone came out of the back.I stood up and the waitress saw that I was getting ready to leave and was talking to the greeter andshe said, they will be right with you. I said that's OK. I only live 3 minutes from the Surfside store but I will not return. Ihave been driving to the Murrells Inlet store where I encounter much better service. I owned a restaurant many years ago andcustomer service was always my #1 priority. When the tall guy that appears to be the manager is working, things run muchsmoother. The corporate office needs to send some secret shoppers in there to eat. They will find the same issues I have found. Read more
