This was my first time coming to Doris Italian Market. Doris is a very nice store and I enjoyed my shopping there. The store is... nice and clean and the meats looked very good. As an Italian I drove here with my wife from Fort Lauderdale excited to find great food and welcoming atmosphere but I?m still... in shock of what I have just experienced. We decided to take the ?special for 2? meal and a charming and nice lady was servingus. She prepared our plate and at the end while she was warming up some of our selections a man (probably the boss or something)working in the same department came and told her something in a rudely manner. We then noticed that he opened our already madeplate and had the lady that was serving us remove food from our plate because I guess she had put too much? This took them awhile and all in front of us waiting for our plate for an additional 10mins. As a real Italian this is not the kind hospitalityand treatment that I would expect from a so called ?Italian Market & Bakery?. Removing food from my plate because it was toomuch?? I?m writing this review in the hope that he will never do this gesture again, it was a huge disappointment and disrespectto both his coworker and us, the customers. As an American of Italian descent, I learned from an early age that only quality ingredients are acceptable in an Italian... kitchen! Doris?s in Sunrise is my favorite place to shop for meat, fish, cheese, fresh produce and seasonal Italianspecialties! Before you even enter the store, pots overflowing with fresh herbs greet you on the left, and upon entering,beautiful sunflowers are right there to put in your basket! Mounds of seasonal veggies like artichokes and bushels of colorfulpeppers are irresistible, and the holiday offerings straight from Italy are fantastic! I particularly love the chestnutsarriving in autumn, from Firenze, in huge burlap bags, and the gorgeously fabric wrapped giant Easter Eggs in the spring remindme of holidays past. They offer an impressive array of cheeses, the fish, especially Corvina, is super fresh, and their fennelItalian sausage is out of this world. Good wine selection. A beautiful gourmet supermarket in the Sunset strip area and Nob Hill. It's not a very big place but the selection of food is... superb, like lasagna, chicken parmigiana, etc. The meat department is impecable. The deli selection is excellent and the readyto serve food selection is fabulous. If you have a cocktail party, visit this place for salads, dips, stuffed grape leaves,mushrooms vinagrette, olives and a very nice selection of different cheeses. They have a very good wine selection and fordessert, you can buy a whole cake or the mini italian assorted pastries. The prices are very affordable. The service was polite. Read more
