While most restaurants have switched to servicing in steel plates and cutlery this places continues to make you feel like a... lowly human serving in paper plates. Well that's not all.. tables are not cleaned after customers leave. No drinking wateroption. Rude owner/staff. Food is good. One of the best rava dosa I have had in a long time! Went there for breakfast early Sunday am. Since we were the first one that... were there - it did take a little bit time for us to get the service. But the food we ordered made it is way and the two dosaswe had ordered was fantastic( ravq dosa and Madurai malli dosa) . The Medhu vada was also great. The sambhar was solid and sowere the coconut and onion chutney. Mint chutney was decent and the idli came in slightly less hot than what I expected to be.Overall a solid value for money spent and a great way to begin a day by having a solid South Indian breakfast ! So the food was good. We ordered rava dosa ,2 Masala dosas and rasam. Rasam was below average with large chunks of green... leaves which we had to remove to consume it. MASALA dosa was good with a nice sambar and tasty chutneys . The parts which Ididn't like : 1. Extremely hot sambar and Rasam were served in low garde plastic bowls. 2 . Their service is very slow. We gotour order after waiting almost 30 mins. 3. When I requested the front desk person, can we get just Masala dosa in lieu of ravadosa( if that's taking time), he bombarded with the reply we are only cooking here ,and now your dosa is ready . All threedosas came at different times ,meaning 5- 10 mins apart. Dosa isn't something you eat cold and get a rude answer to your requestspecially when you are in a restaurant setting. 4. When this person served / slammed rava dosa on the table, some sambar justspilled over the dosa. Spilling is not an issue here, but slamming is. I don't know whether this person did it on purpose ornot. I am not going to their restaurant again for such kind of service. P. S: this restaurant takes payment first so I alreadyadded 10% tip beforehand. Read more
Vada was good, Idlis were okay. Chutney?s the best part. Upma was not noteworthy. Owner( or person on counter) was too grumpy.... He might be having bad day so I ignored. Overall good to try but I?ve had better South Indian food and service. Read more
The place was good and the food was great. Their chili garlic dosa was extremely spicy as the name suggests. Try it if you dare... kind of spicy because they have chopped green chilies all over the dosa. Flavor was on point. I love the fact that they gave 3different chutneys plus the sambar. Even their ghee paneer rava dosa was crispy and tasty. The buttermilk reminded me of mymom's. Would definitely go there often. Read more

Madurai Modern Cafe is a fantastic spot for quality South Indian food. We got masala vada to start, dosas for entrees, and the... classic filter coffee to top it off. The vadas (3) were crispy and chutneys were great. I got the Chennai special dosa which wasplenty and the filling was delicious! My friend got the Mysore masala dosa which was also quite good. Sambar and chutneys(coconut, orange, and coriander) all were flavorful and not spicy. The filter coffees were fantastic, not too sweet or bland,just right. There's ample parking in this plaza and they have a pretty good amount of indoor/outdoor seating. Service was great,we didn't wait too long for our orders and got each order (appetizers, entrees, coffees) one after another which was nice.Highly recommend! Read more
