Had called day after Thanksgiving to check if the place was open. When the owner answered, his voice sounded like an automated... phone so it took me 2 seconds to realize it was a real person. You wouldn't believe it the guy starts shouting rudely. When Iasked him if they were open today, he rudely shouts "Why are you asking if we are open...."....Don't know about the food, butthe owner is rude and if he doesn't treat customers with respect, I'm not giving him my business. House of Kabobs is a small mom and pop shop in Sunnyvale. They have a small menu, but the kabobs are well marinated, juicy and... tender! Please note the seasoning might be bit on the heavy side, so be ready to pair with some rice. The humus is great too, smooth, silky and flavorful. I will definitely come back for more kabobs. Tough, overcooked meat. Some of it tasted spoiled or off, and it was heavily doused in msg to mask that. The tomato looked nice... and charred from the outside but was completely raw on the inside. Probably some of the worst Mediterranean food in the bay. Read more

A homely Persian restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale. It?s run by a friendly couple. We tried the platter with beef and lamb... kebabs, chicken tikka and saffron rice. The meat was juicy and flavorful, especially the kebabs and went well with rice. Thelavash with yogurt dip (with cucumber) was also tasty and the dip also paired well with rice and the meats. Rice was fragrantand fluffy. They have a roasted tomato on the side which enhances the flavor of the dish. Service was quick, meat is halal andportion sizes are large. Read more

I went earlier today because my mother who is in the hospital was craving some soup. Unfortunately, e are 2 hours from home and... this was the closest I could get to home-cooked soup she's used to. I walked in and an elderly man was sitting at one of thetables and the establishment was completely empty. I asked for a cup of soup and he said how many orders and I said just 1. Iasked if he had some bread that he could also add to the order and he said yes I'll add but has to be cash. I said I have nocash, just card. He proceeded to go on about how it's too expensive for me to run my card for a $8 plus tax bowl of soup. Itotally get this as we used to own our own atore and struggled with the cost of running the CC machine but at least give yourfolks the option to get $.50 added to the bill or tell them they could order a few $ more in order to make it worthwhile. But tolose a sale because of some change is ridiculous. Sometimes getting too stuck in the old school mentality is not a good thing. Read more

Totally disappointed. Not sure how this place received even 3.5 stars. The person who took our order was very rude. We had... ordered one of their stews, 'ghormeh sabzi' and the lady told us they don't have enough left. We agreed to order something else. After a few minutes she came back to tell us that they have enough of it for one order. Later when she brought the stew, it wasvery diluted and we could tell that they added water to it to increase the portion size. There were barely any red beans orherbs. I have had ghormeh sabzi at other places and I know how the dish tastes and looks. Their portion sizes are also smallerthan other place and definitely not worth the price. The tea they had served was also barely lukewarm. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK NORWOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Read more
