It?s quite unfortunate when this sort of review needs to be written. It was just a few days ago I would walk around telling my... acquaintances and friends that this establishment was the best sushi in Studio City. However after a quiet disgusting experienceI will never be back. Yesterday, I visited this establishment with six of my colleagues, all sushi lovers. We ordered justabout everything on the menu and were quite surprised to find none of it met the quality that we were expecting. The salmontasted way too gamy/fishy. The uni did not taste like delicate seawater as it should, instead tasted like feces. The kampachiwas at the chew consistency of a used car tire. Any of the sushi with Ponzu had way too much Ponzu on them. The jumbo scallopwith yuzu and salt was as if somebody decided to dump the entire salt shaker on it. The sushi was not crafted with care orquality. Worse off the staff was almost argumentative when we (seasoned sushi veterans) expressed dissatisfaction. At over $175a person we expect excellence. We walk here all the time and this is our go to Sushi spot in the Valley. The staff is always so inviting and attentive. Never... had an issue with service and the food has always been consistent. Not to mention, I do not eat white rice and they are able toeverything with brown rice. The salmon special in the picture is unreal ???????? the hostess Hanna was awesome!! Took myself out for a lovely meal here. This spot focuses on chirashi sushi rather than standard nigiri. Staff was attentive to... Covid precautions and the space felt safely arranged. Fish was fresh. Really enjoyed. Read more

Kiwami means the best. And this place really is. I love the sushi at Katsu-Ya anyway but this really is incredible. Super fresh!

If it was not Memorial Day and not that we couldn?t find any reservation and not that the restaurant we wanted to go nearby... turned out to be closed probably would never be at this place. The fish was at best alright, giving no sense of pleasure. Therice in the chirashi put a big question mark to the quality of this Japanese restaurant - the vinegar wasn?t even fully mixedwith the (poor) rice so that it became a game of finding seasoned sushi rice. Service was friendly. Food just not authentic /good Japanese. Again, won?t come if not in that dire situation. Read more
