Best oxtail I have ever had.???????? I also purchased the fish soup w/okra. To die for. When the fruit bread is available, buy... it. Get two!! Lots of spices to purchase if you want some "flavor" at home. You will always feel welcomed by staff and theowner when you visit. Can't wait for my next visit. Read more

It is painful to have to write this review, but the truth is that last week when my husband and I ventured out to L.A. for some... dinner, we were looking for authentic Jamaican food and found this place. We were not ready for the disappointment we faced. Wehave lived all over the U.S and have visited so many different Jamaican restaurants, that we are quite familiar how Jamaicanfood is supposed to look and taste. But b a b y ! I am utterly confused as to how this place got such good reviews ???? I wantedto be nice and that is why I'm giving 2 stars, because the little store inside this restaurant makes up for the disrespect thatgoes on in this place due to their food. 1st of all, their "natural juices" do not taste like they are home made. Even the Aguasfrescas at Mexican restaurants got more flavor (and they are watered down) than this places natural juices. To be honest, theirstuff tastes like watered down $1 Minute Maid fruit juice/punch. Now, the food? OMG. From the moment you walk in the door youare confused. I don't think this place is owned by Jamaicans and sadly I don't think any of their cooks are Jamaican either???? If you only eaten Jamaican food at an all you can eat resort in Jamaica or something, then that is probably why you areleaving 5 start reviews for this place. The food here is seasoned but bland at the same time! It is greasy yet dry. I mean, thecabagge was a greasy mess and it was supposed to be steamed. No! The food is not authentic Jamaican food at all and to addinsult to injury, it is over priced. After not being able to get thru my dinner, I figured the beef patty would make up for thedisappointment I felt, but nope. It was just as disappointing ???? Please, if you're looking for groceries and spices from theisland, this is a good quick stop for that (albeit over priced), buy if you are looking for authentic Jamaican good, please gosit your butt down somewhere else. This place is not it ???? P.S. their rum cake is pretty good. Read more
