Update: this quickly became our favorite sushi place on Ventura and we've been several dozen times. We recently visited again... post covid this past weekend with some friends and had a wonderful time. I've tried almost everything on the menu at this pointand have yet to come across something that wasn't really good. From sushi, sashimi, ramen, or rolls you can't go wong withanything here. The food, staff and service are all excellent for any type of occasion. We've been here twice now. The firsttime we sat at a table and the second time we sat at the bar. When eating sushi I find that sitting at the bar is far moreenjoyable as you have a close, direct connection with the chef as he prepares your food. The fish here is always exceptionallydelicious, the Toro sushi and sashimi is some of the most moth watering melt in your mouth tuna belly I've had anywhere inLA. Highly recommended to anyone who is a lover of sushi or just wants to try a delightful place to eat with incredible food. Read more

Honestly this place is a hit or miss. I go there quite a bit cause it?s walking distance from me and I love the small house... style set up the have and it?s very easy and casual but sometimes fish is great sometimes it?s not. Sometimes service is greatsometimes it?s not. The only consistent thing they have is the sake . Read more

Nice cozy restaurant. We came early at 11 for sushi and we were almost the only ones. The food was great quality and tasted... delicious. All the seafood on all the dishes were soft and fresh. First the orange panther came out (salmon, shrimp tempura, lemony). Delicious. It came with fried onion crisps but i think it tastes better without the crisps. Then came out the smallseafood ramen which they fully loaded with seafood. It was great, very flavorful. Came with fried onion crisps and finelychopped green onions which did add to the flavor. The dynamite was okay. Had better at other places. Baked black cod roll wasinteresting. It had a different softer texture sushi rice and had a sweeter milder sushi taste. Last was the baked 5 mushroomroll. It was heavy on the sushi vinegar and the Asparagus overtook much of the flavor, but i enjoyed it because I lovemushrooms. I would come out again to try out the other things on the menu Read more

Overpriced average sushi. The nigiri prices match those of some of the highest caliber restaurants that I've been to. The... quality falls short. There is no ambiance here. The restaurant serves as a "post mates" hub. Taking mass orders in and outwith trash littered around the sushi bar, workers sitting and eating inside. A hub of sorts. In fact, there was no sushi bar toeven sit at this night. Just underpaid work making California rolls for the masses. Not one Itamae in sight. I didn't getanything bad, but nothing that I tried gave me the thought, oh.?.. I want some more of that. I had a last minute date and allmy regular place on Ventura was fully reserved. It seemed everywhere that I called was booked as well. Except this place. Now Iknow why. One star added for last minute availability. I do not recommend if you value nigiri or sashimi. Much better choiceswith great ambiance and an Authentic Japanese experience. They don't even pour your sake for you here. No description of thefish when it is brought to your table, it's just slapped on the table with zero etiquette or presentation. If your a rollperson- this may be the place for you. BTW- the date went extremely well regardless Read more
