Our anniversary dinner here was nothing short of perfect. We had dinner on the patio on a fall evening and it was by far the... most comfortable outdoor dining we have ever experienced. It was perfectly warm and cozy with heaters and covering, and cozyblankets were even offered to all guests. The view of the property and every aspect of the restaurant's decor was trulybeautiful. Our food was amazing and among the best we have had anywhere. The service was impeccable and so pleasant. I wish Icould transport this restaurant back with me to Manhattan so that I could go all the time! We will definitely be back andrecommend to anyone who visits Stowe. Read more

Our older parents, in laws, who are living in upstate NY and lived in one of the most expensive restaurant cities in the... world--Tokyo visit once a year for the autumn in Vermont. We are used to "upscale" dining and not unfamiliar with food/wine andEdson was reccomended for a Friday night out. First, we had drinks. The bartender down in the pub is very cool "ski guy" but sorude. Not funny. He makes a joke bout of the high prices of the drinks , and is generally not friendly. Seems bored and unhappy. If you are bored and unhappy maybe work in another business. Then we are told five times you must take your place in the diningroom- but we have two hours, so we do not worry, but our feelings at this point are that something is off. We notice everyone isheaded down the bar--but the dining room is filling up. So we understand Edson Hill are resort, but prices are outrageous forthe quality. Our Duck was wilted and overcooked, and our pork was good--but not "resort quality". And the attitudes of somestaff are just strange, not good. We felt rushed and looked down on. Again, this is strange to us. At this level of "upscale"dining, everything must be nearing perfection. Meat and fish was cold or overcooked and came to the table too fast, even thoughthe waiter asked--"shall I delay for the second courses', and then does not delay and out comes dinner five minutes after theappetizers. Then we could not get waiter's attention, and she's clearly trying to move us along. End of the night, it isridiculous to charge this much. Ok--we're locals and should know better. Many options better in the Stowe town for 1/4 of price. We will never return, and we are not happy about that, but we must be honest. Read more

We came for a special occasion and it was the highlight meal of our weekend at Stowe. The view from the patio was spectacular... and the food was equally great. However, we were most impressed with the exceptional service from both our server Anna and theManager. Anna was especially attentive as evidenced when she noticed my steak was slightly overdone and proactively offered tohave it re-made. The manager then also came by to apologize and offered a soup or salad while the entrée was being re-made.Contrary to previous reviews stating otherwise, we were thoroughly impressed by the service we received in addition to thefood/views and will be back next time we are in Stowe. I'm being generous with a 3 star review. It was our first time in Stowe, and I had high hopes for the fine dining experience... that Edson Hill advertises. I did not receive that. Our waitress, Cora, was not warm and unsmiling. We ordered 2 drinks and 2appetizers, the octopus and chicken liver mousse. Fine, but not quite the level we were expecting. We ordered the venison andswordfish. Both dishes were satisfactory. This is when the night went sour. It took over 30 minutes to clear our finished dinnerplates. Nowadays I am more sensitive to staffing shortages, but the dining room was not full and the other diners also seemed tobe waiting. Once cleared, we ordered a cappuccino and asked to see a dessert menu. It took an additional 15 minutes to receivethe menu. Nothing really stood out to us, so we asked the waitress what her recommendation was. She said the Almond Cake, whichwe decided to try, and we also asked for the check. She brought the cappuccino out 10-15 minutes later and we again asked forthe check. In a non-apologetic tone, she said "I was going to bring it out with your cake." When that came out, I took one biteand was not interested in eating more. It was extremely dry. I noticed she was recommending the most expensive dishes to us,which was fine in the case of the entrees because they were good, but the dessert was certainly not. The whole dinner experiencetook over 2 hours and we left with more to be desired. The other waitress attending to other diners seemed more upbeat andfriendly. I would not return. Read more

Wow! If I could give it 10 stars, I would! We called to ask about sitting at the bar for dinner-- they said the bar is 1st... come 1st serve starting at 5pm. There are only 8 seats at the bar. The rest of the actual tables require reservations and theyare booked two weeks out for dinner. We sat at the bar tonight. The ambience is modern rustic. We loved all of the litcandles and the fireplace. I ate the salmon and my friend ate the brisket. Both were the best meals we've had on this trip! Also, although not listed on their menus or website, they can modify menu items to be gluten free! We also ordered dessert- Ihad the flour-less chocolate cake (also gluten free) and my friend had the pear pastry dessert. What an experience! Overallour 2 meals plus 2 drinks plus 2 dessert came to $132 before tip. Definitely worth the money Read more

If I could give a sixth star for this review, I would. We got married at the inn here, and make the trek back every year for our... anniversary because we are absolutely in love with this place. Chef Jerome's food is exceptional--the best you will find inStowe, and maybe anywhere. He updates the menu seasonally, and sources much of it locally (some from their own gardens onproperty). Their elegant dining room upstairs and cozy tavern downstairs are both great options for a romantic evening. But withthe recent trend toward outdoor dining due to COVID, the new permanent awning on their main patio coupled with the breathtakingviews you get of the property grounds below (see attached photo) make this the best seat in town for dinner out. Their solidcraft beer, wine, and custom cocktail offerings are just the cherry on top of a perfect evening. Read more

If you're around around Stowe, Vermont then this place is a must. I didn't have the opportunity to stay overnight at Edson Hill,... however, I'm glad I dined at the restaurant. The ambiance is perfect. It's quaint and cozy. The external scenery is beautiful. The food is delicious, the Fried Brussel Sprouts are perfect along with the Rib Eye. The cocktails are also well done, highlyrecommend the Smoke and Mirrors. Most importantly the staff have excellent customer service. Definitely will return. Read more
