Cute little place with great drinks. The tacos look authentic, but sadly I've had better mexican food

I've been going to Grand azteca since they've opened. I've been to all the locations I think and although a few of them have... closed over the years the ones that remain open like this one are just as good as the first time I ever stopped in As with anyother Mexican restaurants you do get chips and salsa and a white sauce which mysteriously tastes a little like ranch andsomething else but is delicious to dip your chips in or to put on your food. The menu has evolved they have some really cooldishes and everything is tasty. You can't go wrong so if you don't know what to order because you're overwhelmed by all of thedelicious things you see, I would recommend getting a fajita burrito, a combo that has two different items with rice and beans,or if you want to get a little bit more adventurous if you don't normally get things other than tacos I would recommend thechilaquiles. You can't go wrong with the tacos either, I just recommend you definitely get corn and not flour. I've never had abad meal here and I don't expect to. My friends and family come here all the time and we will either seek it out or if we can'tfigure out where else to go we'll just default here because we know that everything is consistent services quick and the food isgreat. Had our rehearsal dinner here. The staff was very friendly, the service was good, and the food was good, not great. I got the... fajitas, and the steak/chicken was cut so paper thin that it was almost stringy. Would probably go back to try somethingdifferent. Read more

Came in as they are the only in the area open after 9. Ordered the pick 2 combo. The enchilada was so bland, rice was okay but... that's hard to mess up. The real carnitas taco was good but after trying my enchilada I didn't want to finish it. Plate wasdefinitely microwaved to 1000 degrees. Good salsa but that's all I can really say. Read more

I'm struggling to give this visit a 3 star. We come here 3 to 4 times a year, so we are hardly new. This time the food was not... very good at all. Everything I had seemd.like it came from a frozen box from Walmart. The burrito had no flavor and was 1/2 Inchthick. The chili rellano was also 1/2 inch thick and flat like a boxed item. The beans were runny. My son did not devour hismeal, and that is a rarety at this spot. Even the chips and salsa seemed old. Really disappointing all the way around. That wasin February. It is April and we gave returned. I was so close to giving a 5 this time. The menu has been changed, the taco saladhad a type of beef called birria. Beef stewed in spices. It was really good. My son did devour his meal. He ordered a fried icecream which looked good. Unfortunately something bad happened right after that. We beard what sounded like searing fajita meatfrom table behind us. We then heard some surprised exclamations. At that point the coughing started. Our garden section areafilled with smoke and a weird smelling fume. We both started coughing too. Then we could head others in the restaurant coughingalso. We were breathing through our clothes and wet paper towels. The waitress came to see if we were okay and I told her thatmy son was having a hard time eating his ice cream. They opened up the main door and turned the overhead fan on higher. The icecream was quickly eaten so we could leave. I not one to demand refunds, but in this instance, and since their own staff werecoughing, and because we were right next to the problem, I think they should have offered to take the ice cream off the bill.So.... it was a quick and disappointing end to what would have been a good meal. Place is so good. Been going to Azteca for over 20years since they first opened up on 14 and John R. I've been going to this... location for over 3years now and still one of my favorite restuarants.
